The Blarney Stone opens tonight in downtown Sioux Falls

The Blarney Stone opens tonight in downtown Sioux Falls.

The North Dakota-based bar and restaurant transformed multiple storefront on Phillips Avenue north of 12th Street, including the former Touch of Europe space.

“It’s just a beautiful building,” partner Russ Wanner said. “It’s got a great Irish feel.”

For a first look, guests can stop in for drinks starting at 9 tonight.

The main floor dining room opens Wednesday.

The Blarney Stone will be for customers age 21 and older.

Once the restaurant works through its initial opening, the lower-level bar and dining space will open.

“For now, we just need to be good at what we do,” Wanner said.

The menu includes a wide assortment of appetizers, burgers, salads, wraps and sandwiches. Specialty entrees include Guinness Irish stew, shepherd’s pie, corned beef and creamed cabbage, fish and chips, and a black and tan sirloin topped with Guinness mushroom peppercorn sauce.

At a preview event Dec. 11, “everyone said the food was fantastic, so that’s good to hear,” Wanner said.

On weekend mornings, The Blarney Stone will serve a brunch menu, including steak and eggs, breakfast nachos and several varieties of eggs Benedict.

In nicer weather, windows will open to Phillips Avenue, creating an outdoor feel without placing tables outside.

Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The business could use more employees, Wanner said. He expects to start hiring again early next year.
