Sample dishes from 15 Sioux Falls restaurants while supporting public art as Taste of Sioux Falls expands to a new venue this year.
The popular annual fundraiser benefiting SculptureWalk will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Canopy by Hilton within The Steel District downtown.
With a record number of local restaurants participating, “this year’s Taste of Sioux Falls is going to be an extraordinary event,” said Nicole Bell of Lloyd Cos., who is co-chairing it with Hillary McQuade of CorTrust Bank.
“Guests should come hungry! We have a great variety of entrees and desserts; some are familiar and well-known dishes, while others are more unique. An amazing part of this event is the opportunity to sample dishes that one wouldn’t normally order from a restaurant menu.”
Five participating restaurants are newer to the local dining scene, “which allows guests to take advantage of trying dishes from restaurants they may have not had the opportunity to visit yet,” she said.
The new venue offers significantly more space for the event, including additional seating, a comfortable lounge area and a beautiful view of downtown.
Tickets are still limited, though. Purchase through the SculptureWalk website for $175 each.
“In addition, we are selling raffle tickets for six incredible prize packages, which can also be purchased online for $25 each,” Bell said.
“This is a great opportunity for people who may be unable to attend in person but still want to support SculptureWalk’s mission of bringing ‘art to the people.'”
The drawing will take place at the event, but winners do no not need to be present to claim their prize. Additionally, four sculptures will be available for purchase during the event — three from past SculptureWalk exhibits and one currently on display as part of this year’s walk.
“Showcasing these pieces on-site will create a direct connection between the culinary experience of the event and the mission of SculptureWalk while giving guests a unique opportunity to take home an extraordinary work of art,” Bell said.
“The funds raised at the Taste of Sioux Falls help us compensate participating artists, maintain and insure the sculptures and continue growing the program as our downtown community expands. As the organization’s exclusive fundraiser, the Taste of Sioux Falls plays a crucial role in ensuring SculptureWalk remains vibrant and impactful for the community.”
The event has long been a signature one because it brings together both the opportunity to experience dishes from some of the city’s best restaurants and the opportunity to support the arts, she added.
“The arts community needs support now more than ever, and SculptureWalk’s impact on our city is profound,” Bell said. “This public art display continuously brings guests and long-term residents to our downtown, creating energy and support for our local businesses. It is a true asset of our community, and it is a gift we all need to come together to support.”
