Student Showcase event seeks high school, college entrepreneurs

An event showcasing student entrepreneurs is looking for more participants.

The Sioux Empire Student Showcase will be hosted by the University of Sioux Falls via Zoom from 4 to 6 p.m. April 29.

High school and college students across South Dakota can present their business ideas to the public and have the opportunity to win prize money, mentorship and a jump-start in making their ideas become a reality.

The application deadline is being extended to April 9.

The goal is to provide an opportunity for aspiring student entrepreneurs to connect with experienced entrepreneurs.

The competition’s prizes are:

  • First place: $5,000 and startup mentorship, web design and marketing packages.
  • Second place: $3,000 and a startup mentorship package.
  • Third place: $1,000 and a startup mentorship package.

Mentorship packages include hours with an accountant, attorney and financial adviser.
