Step up for Heroes still accepting participants

There’s still time to take part in the third annual Step up for Heroes event Saturday, Sept. 16.

Firefighters, law enforcement officers, members of the military and community members from around the region will be at Howard Wood Field to climb 110 flights of stairs to remember those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center buildings Sept. 11, 2001, and the everyday heroes in each of our lives.

It’s not a race but a memorial stair climb.

Those feeling competitive, though, can take part in an obstacle event at the site organized by GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness.

The challenge course includes six tasks and a new finishing gauntlet. The top time posted on the course is just under 30 minutes.
