Spring Parade of Homes to include more than 60 homes — featuring 39 builders

May 11, 2023

This paid event listing is sponsored by the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire.

The semi-annual Sioux Empire Parade of Homes always offers a range of newly built homes to tour – and includes both custom-built homes and houses that are available for purchase.

“We are excited to launch this year’s Spring Parade of Homes, which includes about 20 more homes than last spring. We have an amazing lineup of houses that offer a great mix of price ranges and locations throughout the Sioux Empire”, said Ruth Ann Scott, chair of the Parade of Homes Committee for the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire and the owner of The Living Door.

This year’s parade will feature 62 homes representing 39 different builders from all over the Sioux Empire. While some of the homes will be custom-built for owners, there will also be several that are for sale and move-in ready, Scott said.

The homes on the parade can be found all over the Sioux Falls area, including Sioux Falls, Brandon, Harrisburg, Tea and even Madison.

“Our parade boundaries have expanded outside of the Sioux Falls area as there’s less lots available within the city limits. That’s why you are seeing the footprint of the Sioux Empire Parade of Homes grow as people are buying lots and building in the communities that surround Sioux Falls,” Scott said.

Even if you’re not in the market for a newly built home, the parade provides many ideas for remodel projects and decorating.

“Today’s housing market is super busy with remodel projects these days,” Scott said. “However, new construction always remains of interest as well. Spring is when we see the itch to move, upgrade or remodel strike. That’s one of the main values this parade can bring to parade goers is to connect them with styles being introduced or re-introduced into the housing market. For instance, stained cabinets are making a comeback, while white is still popular you see the trend of gray’s starting to fade and now taupe is coming back to add more warmth.”

The parade is a good chance to learn about everything from cabinets to flooring, garage floors to landscaping, she added. Visitors are encouraged to ask builders and industry partners present at the parade homes questions during the event. The parade provides the opportunity to connect with people and products from the building industry as homeowners prepare to build, remodel, or look for accessories for their homes.

“Everyone is invited to come out and tour with us! You don’t need to be in the market to build, the parade is for anybody and everybody interested in what’s new in the housing market trends,” Scott said. “By touring these homes on the parade you can see firsthand what’s new in building trends and incorporate them into your own building project or current home. This event is designed to give you inspiration.”

The Spring Parade of Homes runs May 13-14 and May 20-21  from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and includes four virtual tours that can be found here.

New to this year’s parade is the Sioux Empire Parade of Homes App.  This interactive tool allows parade guests to take to the parade on the go and plan their tour.

“This app will not only allow users to connect with the parade houses and information but find helpful tips when it comes to touring.  The app will be a useful tool as parade goers can browse house renderings, floor plans and get directions to their must-see homes. We’re excited for our guests to use the app because with the number of houses we have on the parade this spring you will need a plan on both weekends to tour as there are a lot of homes to take in.”
