Sioux Falls Regional Airport offers TSA PreCheck enrollment

Aug. 29, 2018

Travelers at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport can enroll for TSA PreCheck at an enrollment center that’s open there through Friday.

The status allows travelers to leave on shoes, light outerwear and belts and keep their laptop and travel-size liquids and gels in carry-on bags during screening.

The enrollment center is open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.

“The beginning of May, we saw a huge success with the first ever mobile enrollment event at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport, put on in partnership with the airport and TSA. Over 330 people took advantage of this quick and easy opportunity to enroll in TSA PreCheck. Don’t miss this opportunity to enroll this week, right at the airport,” said Trisha Meyer, TSA assistant federal security director, mission support for South Dakota.

“Once enrolled, Trusted Travelers can use any TSA PreCheck lane at any airport across the country. Whether you travel for business, leisure or both, you will find the TSA PreCheck security-checkpoint experience to be quick and efficient.”

Make an appointment at tsa.gov/precheck. Click on the words “Start Application Now” to begin the enrollment process. Select “Sioux Falls Regional Airport” as the enrollment center location.

You will need to complete the enrollment process in-person at the airport this week. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or driver license and certified copy of a birth certificate. Fingerprints will be collected during the in-person session.

The application fee is $85 and Trusted Traveler status is good for five years. It can be paid at the time of appointment by credit card, money order, company check or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Walk-ins are permitted and will be accommodated around scheduled appointments.

Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number that makes them eligible to use TSA PreCheck lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Children 12 and younger can use the TSA PreCheck lane when traveling with a Trusted Traveler parent or guardian.

Forty-seven airlines participate in TSA PreCheck and travelers departing a U.S. airport flying on any of those airlines are eligible for expedited screening. As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures, both seen and unseen, throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
