The Sioux Falls Red Lobster is not among dozens of locations that abruptly closed  Monday.

The trade publication Restaurant Business reported employees nationwide showed up to work to learn that they no longer had a job. Equipment from more than 50 Red Lobsters in 21 states was being auctioned off, it reported.

The company had more than 600 locations before the closures. The Sioux Falls Red Lobster is located on the campus of The Empire Mall.

Locations in the Sioux Falls region that are listed as closed include Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Council Bluffs, Iowa.

There have been recent media reports that the restaurant chain is considering a bankruptcy filing to restructure its debt.
