Shenanigans Sports Bar & Grill is planning for new ownership in the new year.

The longtime bar and grill at 1903 S. Ellis Road announced today on social media that it plans to change hands Jan. 2.

The name, employees and operations will remain the same, the post said.

Those who have parties or events scheduled will see them continue as planned, it said.

“Thank you to you — our community, for supporting Shenanigans over the past 40 years!” the business said. “We look forward to continuing to be a great place to meet up with family and friends for cold drinks and good food in a friendly environment. We will have further information as we get closer to Jan. 2, 2025.”

Shenanigans was founded by Don and Jean Rose  in The Empire Mall in 1986.

At that time, only 10 restaurants and bars were located on 41st Street, according to information from the business. After 29 years, it moved to its current west-side location and was among the first businesses in the growing neighborhood along Ellis Road.
