A sweet blonde ale has been crowned the winner of the annual Downtown Sioux Falls Mash Madness competition.

The Coconut Zambooki, crafted by Severance Brewing Co., is brewed with roasted coconut and Colombian coffee from The Source.

Five downtown breweries competed in the fifth annual beer challenge, sponsored by Billion Nissan. More than 4,000 beers were sold, and more than 1,200 votes were cast.

In second place was Remedy Brewing Company with the “Is This Even Beer?” and Fernson Brewing Company with the “Seltzer Sunrise” followed in third place.

The Coconut Zambooki is still on tap Severance, and “we think it will be for several more weeks — as long as it will last,” said co-owner Melissa Heckel.

Severance is along the boardwalk of The Cascade at 701 N. Phillips Ave.
