Seven wines to try this week

Dec. 17, 2018

This paid piece is sponsored by Wine Time on Main.

With more than 160 wines available by the glass, it’s easy to try a new one every visit at Wine Time on Main.

Narrowing it down to a recommendation for each day of the week was tough, but owner Bob Novak did it.

Wine Time is located at Washington Square and open at 3 p.m. daily.

Enjoy these reasons to make it “wine time” any day of the week!

Monday: Louis Jadot Pouilly-Fuisse

This French Chardonnay is a classic one for Monday.

“It’s one of those super-easy wines to drink and a great way to start the week,” Novak said.

Tuesday: Benton Lane First Class Pinot Noir

“What excites me about that wine is the mocha and the cola flavors,” Novak said. “It’s just enough to get you to hump day.”

Wednesday: Lamole di Lamole DOCG

This is a classic Chianti – with notes of flowers, licorice and dried herbs.

“It makes a great way to start the rest of the week.”

Thursday: Faust Cabernet

The name Faust is a nod to a German legend who, appropriately, “is highly successful yet dissatisfied and makes a pact with the devil to work toward the weekend,” Novak said.

“And it’s an awesome wine. It’s fun.”

Friday: Pahlmeyer Merlot

“It’s plum, mocha and espresso. It pairs well with our cheese and charcuterie as you have a little more time to unwind or are on your way home from work or your way to an event.”

Saturday: Cabernet choices

It all depends on the kind of week you’ve had or the occasion that brings you in.

If you’re in the mood to wind down the week, try the Treana Cabernet.

“It’s extremely popular. It’s not your traditional Napa Cabernet. It’s from Paso Robles, and it’s an easy-to-drink wine at a great price point,” Novak said.

And if you’ve had one of those weeks where you want to treat yourself or you want to drown your sorrows, he recommends the Lyndenhurst Cabernet by Spottswoode Estate.

“That’s one of those big, earthy, minerally Cabs that just completes a great week.”

Sunday: Moet Nectar Imperial Rose

It’s a sparkling Rose with fresh aromas of strawberry and cream.

“It depends on how you look at Sunday night. Is it ending or starting the week? And either way, it’s a great way to finish the week and an amazing way to start the week.”
