Downtown restaurant adds pop-up pizza kitchen

Jan. 24, 2024

A downtown restaurant is offering wood-fired pizzas for a limited time.

Harvester Kitchen by Bryan has created the pop-up Nunzio’s Pizza Kitchen as a special offering.

Nunzio’s menu features four 10-inch pizzas that are available only for takeout: cheese, pepperoni, mushroom and veal meatball.

“We will offer the pizzas during the run of the Wood Fired Winter menus we are currently serving now through February,” said Jaimie Moscatello, the wife of chef Bryan Moscatello. “We decided to offer to-go pizza as we currently have the wood-fired oven burning each evening we are open.”

The pizzas are served from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

This is the first time Harvester Kitchen, which opened in 2021 in the Harvester Building at 196 E. Sixth St., has served pizza, Moscatello said, noting that that wood-fired pizza is one of her husband’s “very favorite foods.”

The crust is the chef’s recipe for a handmade pizza dough that is fermented for two days, and the sauce is made in-house, Moscatello said. The pizzas are baked over cherry wood.

The name “Nunzio’s” comes from Bryan Moscatello’s childhood.

“Bryan grew up in an Italian-American neighborhood in New Jersey, and when he was 6 or 7 years old, he told his mom he wanted an Italian-American name like his friends,” his wife said. “He asked his mom if he could change his name to Nunzio and she said no.”

The pizzas are $18 each. Call 605-271-2015 to order. The restaurant plans to add online ordering to its website.

Future offerings of Nunzio’s Pizza Kitchen are a possibility, Moscatello said.
