If you’ve ever spent hours trying to find the perfect gift for any occasion, Kelsey Buelow says she has a solution.

Buelow started Wonderfully Made Gifting Co. in late 2020. The concept for Wonderfully Made, which centers around gift packages, aims to provide a streamlined gift-buying process for any occasion. Each purchase is contained in a “wooden, extremely high-quality” box, and typically contains thee to five pieces of merchandise. The boxes have the option to be engraved with a word, phrase or name of the buyer’s choice and are sourced from a maker in Wisconsin.

“I like to call them keepsake boxes because you can use them for things way past the gift,” Buelow said. “They have a very vintage-y, antique feel.”

There are several options for pre-selected boxes surrounding a theme; these, Buelow has designed herself. She said that she hopes those boxes make gift-giving for specific occasions even easier.

“I’ve come up with designs for maybe for a bride or for Father’s Day or a birthday or whatever it may be, just to streamline that process for people.”

Many of the products available in the boxes are locally made, and Buelow said she tries to keep a strong focus on high-quality and small-business goods. One local maker that she frequently works with is watercolor artist Jordyn McNamara of Jo Creative Co. 

“I definitely keep all of my products coming from small businesses in general, so I find a lot of them through Instagram, some from Etsy,” Buelow said. “I want them to be high quality, cute and in the right price range.”

One aspect of Wonderfully Made that Buelow has enjoyed exploring is the corporate gifting sphere, which she said often is overlooked by gifting companies.

“There are lots of people who are looking for nice gifts for clients or otherwise, a lot of mortgage bankers and Realtors, homebuilders and just people from corporations that value their clients’ experience.”

Because of that specific demographic, Buelow has created a “business gifting” service where those looking to give large numbers of gifts to employees or similar groups can work with her to create the perfect box.

“When companies need 20, 30 or 100 gifts for their employees for Christmas, or birthday gifts or for their clients and customers, I can work with them to create a memorable gift that works for everyone.”

Buelow said she hopes her business can expand to include a larger staff as well as a further reach within the community.

“I think I have it in my heart to create a space where I can have other women come to work and they’re truly valued and they enjoy themselves and are appreciated. I’d also really love to become the go-to for gifting of any kind in Sioux Falls.”
