Scooter’s Coffee has arrived on West 12th Street.

The coffee chain has opened a drive-thru location at 12th and Holly Avenue in a new two-tenant retail building.

It’s the eighth location for owners Travis and Kristen Rhoades in the Sioux Falls market, which includes Brandon. The first Sioux Falls Scooter’s near 57th Street and Western Avenue is owned by another franchisee.

“We have been searching for the right opportunity on West 12th Street for years,” Travis Rhoades said, adding he was attracted to the thoroughfare by the busy traffic all day long, not just during morning hours.

The location is unique for Scooter’s as it’s a drive-thru-only space similar to the other drive-thru kiosk locations, but the space is connected to a second tenant bay.

“We have 1,608 square feet for lease next to Scooter’s,” said Ryan Tysdal of Van Buskirk Cos., the leasing agent for the building. “This is an opportunity for a small retail or office tenant looking for a high-profile location.”

It could be an ideal location for a pizza or other food tenant with opposite peak hours as Scooter’s, he added.

Hours at the shop at 2205 W. 12th St. are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Grand-opening promotions will be announced by Scooter’s in the coming weeks.

Rhoades is working on his next Sioux Falls location and said he expects to make that announcement later this year.
