Restaurant Roundup: New tacos, Campfire Charcuterie

The new Ranch & Roost at Lake Lorraine has added Elevated Tacos to its lineup. Meat choices are chicken or marinated steak, which are grilled to order. They come in a flour tortilla with lettuce, Revo sauce, pico de gallo, queso and cilantro. Orders include three tacos, and customers can get a mix of chicken or steak. For a side, choose roasted street corn.

The May taco of the month at Dahlia Kitchen + Bar is Lime Chicken Bacon Ranch Crunch with spit-roasted chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomatillo and avocado ranch.

Crawford’s Bar & Grill has several new menu items, bringing in more of the flavors of the Midwest. For steaks, there’s an 18-ounce Cowboy Bison Ribeye, 16-ounce Kansas City Bison Strip and 12-ounce Elk Chop. There’s a new Jamaican Jerk Pheasant that features pheasant raised in Spearfish. On the lighter side, there’s a Spiced Ahi Tuna & Crispy Rice Salad. A favorite for the patio is the Campfire Charcuterie that feeds four to six and features a tabletop fire to warm up the cheeses. Tabletop s’mores are back, there’s a new lemon meringue tart, and cannoli will be added next week.

Glacial Lakes Distillery & Brewhouse has added a few light bites to its offering of craft cocktails. The Hand-Breaded Pickle Chips Basket comes with sriracha mayo, and there are Peruvian Verde Salsa & Chips and the Spinach BLT Wrap. There’s also a new featured menu of cocktails for summer. Just a few of the options are the Ba-Loma, a bourbon twist on a Paloma; Electric Dragon, with vodka and dragonberry lemonade; and the Mango Chili Daiquiri. See the full list here.

Pizza Cheeks has two limited-time features: Springtime Gnocchi and Vietnamese Chili Wings. For the pasta dish, the dumplings are tossed in brown butter, with local asparagus, spring onion and fennel, finished with a splash of white balsamic and fresh basil.

The Dawg Days of Summer are back at Crack’d Pot Restaurant. Quarter-pound, all-beef hot dogs from Nathan’s Famous are available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday through Aug. 29. Choice are The Plain Pup, Chicago Style, The Big Chili and The Slaw Dawg.

For its newest featured pizzas, Sunny’s Pizzeria created one that’s called Ode to Fong in honor of the Des Moines restaurant Fong’s Pizza. In return, Fong’s created a pizza in honor of Sunny’s. The tweak on Pepperoni Playboy is available there all month. It has Fong’s spicy sauce, house cheese blend, pepperoni, Totino’s Pizza Rolls and a sriracha sauce drizzle.

The Taco Vault in Worthing now serves dessert, featuring cakes made by Angeles Bakery. Typically, customers will find tres leches and another flavor. Those rotating options have included chocoflan, strawberry lemonade, black forest and carrot cakes.

The featured treats for May at Stensland Family Farms are the Krypto Kraze Sundae and Gummy Bear Shake. The sundae has Kryptonite and Farmhouse Original ice creams, gummy bears, a rainbow twist sucker, white chocolate drizzle, whipped topping and sprinkles. The shake is dips of Farmhouse Original ice cream and strawberry sorbet and flavors of orange, lime, lemon and apple, topped with whipped cream and gummy bears.

Order the Police Officers Week Dozen from Flyboy Donuts and the shop will deliver a dozen doughnuts for free to local law enforcement during another week. The offer is good through Saturday.

Donate $1 at Popeyes to help national and local organizations that feed the hungry, and get a free apple pie with your next purchase. The offer is good through June 22 on in-store orders.

Panera Bread has a few new limited-time menu items, including croissant toast sandwiches. Choices include croque monsieur and fromage. There’s a new strawberry caprese salad, a cranberry walnut chicken salad sandwich and the Green Goddess Avo, which is avocado spread topped with tomato, arugula, feta and Green Goddess dressing on Country Rustic Sourdough. The seasonal favorite strawberry poppyseed chicken salad has returned, along with Mexican street corn chowder and frozen strawberry lemonade.

Arby’s has two new sandwiches featuring AC Barbeque, a brand of sauces from comedians Anthony Anderson and Cedric the Entertainer. The offerings are a 13-hour hickory-smoked brisket sandwich and a six-hour smoked pulled pork sandwich. The sauces are Anthony’s Spicy Chipotle Smoke Sauce and Cedric’s Sweet Bussin Brown Sugar Sauce.

Potbelly Sandwich Works has a new permanent addition to the menu: its first steak sandwich. The Prime Rib Steak Sandwich is toasted and also has Swiss cheese, caramelized onion and roasted garlic aioli.

Ziggi’s Coffee has added dirty sodas to the menu. There are more than 50 combinations featuring Dr Pepper, Pepsi, Starry, Mug Root Beer, Mountain Dew and Tropicana Lemonade, with a variety of flavorings and add-ins like boba, gummies and cream. A&W Restaurant is hosting a car show every Friday starting at 4 p.m. Car owners will receive a free root beer float and discounts on food. It’s open to all types of vehicles.

The Hello Hi and Spoke-N-Sport are hosting a Happy Hour Ride on Friday for Bike to Work Week. It starts are 6 p.m. from the bike shop’s parking lot and will head along the bike path to the bar downtown. There will be happy hour specials, with $1 of every drink benefiting Falls Area Singletrack. Prizes for the coolest bikes include a $50 Spoke-N-Sport gift card or Hello Hi bar tab.

Mike’s Bar in Sherman is celebrating Syttende Mai, Norway’s Independence Day, on Saturday with a potluck at 5 p.m. “Bring anything Norwegian; however, lutefisk should be forbidden,” the bar wrote in a social media post. Big Red Rawkit will play from 2 to 5 p.m.

Red Rock Bar & Grill in Rowena has added twofers on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. It applies to bottled beer, seltzers, draft beer, wine and liquor, and no longer includes shots or craft cocktails. The bar also has twofers on Tuesdays.
