March 18, 2021

CNC Food Factory in the Avera McKennan Fitness Center has added pizzas to its lineup with an 8-inch for $7 and a 12-inch for $10. The crust and pizza sauce are made from scratch, and there’s a gluten-free crust too for a $1 upcharge. Build your own with traditional toppings. Breakfast versions also are available, including the Dr. Feelgood shown below with maple syrup, sausage, egg and four types of cheese. Another breakfast option features sausage, hash browns, eggs, mozzarella and sausage gravy. The pizzas also can be ordered as take-and-bake. The café is open to the public, and hours are 5 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Chasers Food & Spirits and 12th and Ellis has added lunch hours. It opens at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday. New menu items include chicken wings, wraps and salads. Daily lunch specials are offered.

Fat Kid Filly’s makes its debut Friday night at Bushwhackers Bar & Grill. The food truck is taking over the bar’s kitchen on select dates, with a regular schedule expected later in the year. For Friday night, Fat Kid Filly’s owner Cody Sauers also is cooking up a St. Patrick’s special of smoked corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots and a dinner roll. Here’s a look at the regular menu, which includes a rainbow-colored grilled cheese for kids called the Party Popper.

Fans of smash burgers will find several choices on the new menu at The Rush Bar & Grill. The bar on 41st Street stopped using pre-made patties, co-owner Al Grey said. Options include a classic bacon cheeseburger; one with grilled mushrooms and onions; the Deadwood with white cheddar, house-made bacon jam, crispy onions and Rush sauce; the Spicy Ranch; and the Lowrider, with Mexican flavors. The new burgers come as a single, double or triple. Here’s a few of the other new items: garlic parmesan fries, chicken bacon ranch wrap, buffalo chicken wrap, chicken fajita wrap. New chicken wing flavors include garlic parmesan, Asian barbecue and buffalo dry rub. A secret menu item, the hot hamburger, has made its way to the menu, Grey said. It’s a double-patty smash burger on Texas toast with garlic mashed potatoes and house gravy.

The popular Sickcilian sandwich is back on the menu at Sickies Garage, general manager Brian Prososki said. “It used to be a favorite of a lot of people,” he said of the sausage patty topped with marinara, pepperoni, ham, provolone, pepperoncini, lettuce and mayo. Other new additions to the menu include the Mozzerati burger topped with fried cheese curds, mozzarella and marinara; jalapeno popper burger served with a raspberry dipping sauce; chicken parm sandwich, crispy chicken ranch sandwich, and beer-battered fish sandwich;  The dessert menu is completely new, Prososki said, with ultimate chocolate cake, key lime margarita cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake and carrot cake.

If spicy dishes suit your tastebuds, Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe has five new offerings featuring spicy chicken tenders and chipotle ranch dressing. Try the spicy chipotle ranch wrap, spicy chicken salad, spicy chipotle ranch hot sandwich, spicy chipotle flatbread pizza and spicy chipotle barbecue flatbread pizza. Use the code “SpicyChicken” to save 30 percent off one item through March 29 when you order online for pickup or delivery.

The Attic Bar & Grill has a new featured menu that will be available into May. Offerings at both East 41st and West 12th locations include cauliflower ceviche, a steak sandwich, pan-roasted walleye, sweet chili shrimp and an Asian pork noodle salad.

Customers have a few more days to eat at Phnom Penh Restaurant before it’s closed for a week for a kitchen remodeling project. The owners also are expecting their third child soon. The restaurant on North Minnesota Avenue that serves Cambodian, Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese foods will be closed Sunday through March 29.

Minervas typically is closed on Sundays except for Mother’s Day, but the downtown restaurant has been making more exceptions to the rules this year. It was open on Valentine’s Day because it fell on a Sunday, and now it will be open for Easter. The downtown restaurant is taking reservations for 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The regular dinner menu will be served along with chef specials such as prime rib. Reserve a table online, or call the restaurant.

Today is the release date for Foxy Lady, a beer created by some of the members of the Pink Boots Society in Sioux Falls. The women from Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars, Lupulin Brewing Co. and WoodGrain Brewing Co. brewed an American pale ale in early March for Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day, which they dry hopped using a special blend of hops chosen for the event. The brewers describe the brew as “well-balanced, slightly sweet and juicy, and even at 7.1 percent ABV, it’s super smooth and approachable.” It’s available in cans at Covert’s taproom on East Eighth Street. A portion of proceeds will go to the South Dakota chapter and to the national organization for scholarships to support women in the beer industry.

Donate blood next week, and get a free doughnut and coffee. The Community Blood Bank will be at outside the south and east locations for Flyboy Donuts on Friday, March 26. Grab an appointment time for The Bridges location here and the East 10th Street site here.
