Restaurant Roundup: New brunch offerings, new restaurant’s menu, new grab-and-go

The new Ironwood Steakhouse at The Steel District has added weekend brunch service. The menu offers elevated takes on brunch staples like Quiche Lorraine, Diane Steak & Eggs, Smoked Salmon Cake Benedict and Bananas Foster French Toast. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. See the full menu here.

The Tavern Grill has added to its Sunday breakfast offerings. In addition to a revamped buffet, there now is a plated brunch with five options. That’s a photo of the breakfast pizza at the top of the article.

Here’s a link to the menu for the new Hook & Ladder Kitchen & Bar, which opened earlier this week in the former Session Ale Works space near 12th and Ellis. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Look’s Marketplace has started to expand its grab-and-go offerings beyond desserts. Now, there are salad options – Look’s Garden Market, Caesar and Greek – and sandwiches – Chicken Caesar Wrap, BBQ Smoked Pork Wrap, Smoked Chicken Salad Croissant and New Orleans Muffuletta.

New featured cocktails for spring have arrived at Look’s Marketplace: Coconut/Lavender Margarita, Golden Hour, Strawberry Pisco Sour, Helios and Spring Spritz.

Blarney Stone Pub is getting a jump on celebrating Cinco de Mayo with featured items. The menu includes Fiesta Fish Tacos, Grilled Stuffed Burrito, Pork Enchiladas, Sopapillas and Cheesy Chicken Tortilla Soup.

MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub has three new menu items: Al Pastor Taco Trio, Southwest Rolls and Philly Cheesesteak.

Crack’d Pot has new weekday lunch specials, including the return of the popular Rachel Melt, a new Philly cheesesteak sandwich, lunch-size portion of chicken fried steak and half-pound mushroom and swiss burger. Prices range from $9 to $12, and they’re served with soup, salad or fries. They’re available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Oyster season has returned with Carpenter Bar’s Final Friday Oyster Nights. The crew will start shucking at 4 p.m., serving until the oysters are gone. This month’s oysters are from the waters of Barnstable Harbor in Massachusetts and are described as having a “balanced by nature” flavor profile. Catch the feature on the last Friday of the month into fall.

Dakota Craft Links has joined the trend and now uses beef tallow in its fryers.

Candy Cloud Factory downtown now carries Poppy’s Popcorn Co. products.

The popular all-you-can-eat wings and fries deal is back for a limited time at Buffalo Wild Wings. This year, there are both boneless wings for $20 and traditional wings for $25. The offer is good Monday through Thursday for dine-in only.

Big Poppa’s Pizza has added another daily special. On Wednesdays, buy a hand-tossed pizza and get a second one for half-price. Use the promo code HTBOGO50 if you order online. Among the offerings is the new Mac Daddy with Thousand Island sauce, beef, onion, cheese, lettuce and tomato. The pizzeria also has new hours for summer. It opens at 11 a.m. daily and serves until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, midnight Friday and Saturday and 9 p.m. Sunday. And in addition to DoorDash, Big Poppa’s offers delivery now through Grubhub.

Auntie Anne’s is celebrating National Pretzel Day by offering a free original or cinnamon sugar pretzel through its rewards app. Hours for the special are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at participating locations.

Denny’s is offering BOGO $1 Original Grand Slams or All American Slams for a limited time on dine-in orders.

The new Railbirds Sports Bar has added happy hours with two-fers on drinks. Hours are 2 to 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to close Monday through Friday and 8 p.m. to close Saturday and Sunday.

Like taking risks? Outback Steakhouse has a new secret menu item for a limited time. Ask for the #HotWingROOletteChallenge, a game of chance where you spin to determine which wing to eat. One of the five wings is the spicy Kangaroo Kick.

Hot Honey Rub has earned a permanent spot on the menu at Wingstop. To celebrate, Wingstop has created the limited-time Hot Honey Rub Box with three tenders tossed in Hot Honey Rub and served on a bed of Hot Honey fries with a dipping sauce of choice for $8. The dry rub, which combines the sweetness of honey with the kick of cayenne pepper and ancho chili, was introduced in 2022.

Hot honey also is the featured flavor on two new subs at Subway. Hot Honey Chicken and Hot Honey Pepperoni are available for a limited time.

The Colby Jack Pub Burger is back by popular demand at Culver’s. The burger includes colby jack cheese, crispy onions and A.1. pepper mayo on an everything-flavored bun. Get it as a single, double or triple. And there’s a new limited-time treat: Skittles Pop’d Concrete Mixers and Lemon Ice Coolers.

Taco Grande is back for a limited time at Papa Murphy’s Pizza.

The 18th Amendment is offering half-price drinks and appetizers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday as part of its I-90 Speedway Car Show. Sprint cars will be on display.

To celebrate Earth Day, Remedy Brewing Co. has teamed up again with Friends of the Big Sioux River to craft a beer using purified surface water from the river. Join them for a launch party from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday after the river cleanup and Party for the Planet at Sertoma Park. Big Sioux Brew is a German pilsner, and the Friends team will be at the brewery to about the brewing process and their mission. Midwest Dairy is providing cheese, meat and crackers for snacking. Sunday Night Blues are back this weekend at Club David. In addition to live music, there will be a Southern meal for $20 with ribs, cornbread and slaw. Get banana pudding for $5. Featured cocktails are Lucille Lemonade and Smokestack Lightning. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m., and there’s a $5 cover charge.

The Phillips Avenue Diner is remembering the life of kitchen manager and executive chef Natasha Jones with a fundraiser next week. The restaurant will donate a percentage of sales Wednesday to her family and will accept donations in her memory. Jones died in March.

Chef Emily Wilson of Bee Loved Kitchen won the 11th annual Cleavers Chef Challenge earlier this month. Chef Skyler Hoiland of Bluestem Catering Co. in Luverne, Minnesota, took second place, and Chef Ryan Pederson of Minnehaha Country Club finished third and also won People’s Choice. The theme was Caribbean Showdown. The event raised more than $262,000 for the Children’s Home Society.

- Wagoo Burger has started offering delivery through DoorDash.
- Fernson Brewing Co. has added an app that offers exclusive rewards and benefits like early access to events and new beers. Find it on the App Store or Google Play.
- Pinz has ended breakfast service on Saturday and Sunday. The specials on Wednesdays – kids eat free and all-you-can-eat boneless wings – have been expanded to Sundays.
- Baltic Corner will be closed Monday and Tuesday while new flooring is installed.
