Restaurant Roundup: New fall menus, CurderBurger’s return

A new Bill of Fare menu has been released at The Attic Bar & Grill. Entrees include Basil Pesto Chicken with horseradish mashed potatoes and grilled broccolini, Lavender Hot Honey Pork Loin with sweet potato mash and grilled broccolini, Pecan Encrusted Salmon with butternut squash puree and quinoa, and the Beer Brat Sandwich. For dessert, The Cake Lady has created a combo of apple bourbon cheesecake and spice cake.

RoundHouse Brew Pub has a new featured menu. Pork Elote Fries are topped with shredded pork, fire-roasted corn, fried jalapenos, Mexican crema, cotija cheese and cilantro. RoundHouse Dogs features two all-beef hot dogs with bacon jam, sauteed onion, fried jalapenos and spicy mustard aioli. There’s an Indian Butter Chicken & Fried Cauliflower Wrap and Prosciutto Pesto Pizza. For dessert, the restaurant is making cinnamon and sugar fry bread with a caramel apple topping.

Culver’s is bringing back its CurderBurger on Monday for a limited time. The burger started as an April Fool’s joke two years ago that turned into a real deal. It’s a patty-sized cheese curd that goes on a Deluxe ButterBurger. The CurderBurger will be available until Oct. 31 or while supplies last.

Celebrate the second anniversary of Sweet Cheeks on Tuesday. The first 200 customers will get a free mini ice cream cupcake with a purchase of at least $5. The shop near 69th and Louise opens at noon.

 

Nothing Bundt Cakes has a new pop-up flavor that’s available through Oct. 7 or while supplies last. The Churro Dulce de Leche is a cinnamon and spice bundtlet filled with dulce de leche.

Coffea Roasterie has released its autumn menu, and fans of the unique pumpkin spice latte Charlie Brown will be pleased to note its return. Other options include the Butterscotch Latte, Old Smoke Tea Latte and apple cider from Hoversten Orchards. Seasonal baked goods are pumpkin bread and ginger molasses cookies. The roastery also has an autumn blend: Golden Hour. It’s described as “caramel sweet with lively notes of blackberry and citrus.”

It’s the last oyster night of the season Friday at Carpenter Bar. Shucking starts at 4 p.m. and ends when the supply runs out.

A new event Friday from JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars and Nyberg’s Ace Hardware combines bourbon and barbecue. For Barbeque & Bourbon, JJ’s will offer whiskey sampling, and Nyberg’s will grill food on the equipment it sells – all in the parking lot of the store at 41st and Minnesota. A $60 ticket option includes food, raffle entries and whiskey sampling. A food-only ticket is $30 in advance. Buy tickets here. At-the-gate prices are $75 and $40. There will be live music, prizes and a cigar booth. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m.

The Tea-based food truck Taqueria Suyapa is cooking up a special meal Saturday. Stop by from 3 to 8 p.m. for Pollo Chuco, or Dirty Chicken. The Honduran-style fried chicken comes with green banana fried chips, cabbage salad, and pickled onion and jalapenos. The food truck also will serve its regular menu from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fernsonfest from Fernson Brewing Co. is Saturday, and this year it’s a free event. Bands include Neon Horizon, The Ruralists and Sun Glass. Find vendors, pickleball demonstrations, a grilling competition and food from Wagoo Burger, Hunny & Bunny and Krazy Concessions. The annual glassware this year is a 16-ounce steel cup with a Fernson koozie. The dog-friendly event is from 2 to 8 p.m. at the brewery at 1400 E. Robur Drive. Wine-lovers can celebrate Oktoberfest too at Gist Wine Shop. The downtown shop is hosting Winetoberfest on Saturday. Pop in anytime from noon to 6 p.m. for a German wine tasting. Warm pretzels also will be available for purchase.

Severance Brewing Co. has teamed up again with neighboring Mary’s Mountain Cookies for a fall beer and cookie pairing on Tuesday. Stop by anytime from 5 to 8 p.m. For $15, you’ll get four 6.5-ounce beers and four cookie quarters. Find the pairings and buy tickets on the Severance website.

Expanding its offerings, Intoxibakes now makes 9-by-13-inch cakes in addition to round ones. Decorations are more limited, and frosting is on the top only. Boozy and non-boozy options are available.

The Wine Bar at Allure has a full liquor license now, so cocktails are joining the lineup of wine, champagne and beer. A featured cocktail menu is being developed.

Firehouse Subs brought back a sandwich that hasn’t been on the menu for eight years. It’s the King’s Hawaiian Pork & Slaw Sandwich. It’s available for a limited time.

With five Saturdays this month, Sioux Falls Food Tours is using the extra day for its annual Going to the Dogs event. The downtown walking tour from 1 to 4 p.m. will head to dog-friendly restaurants and breweries, so participants can bring their dogs along. Tour stops include Severance Brewing Co., Flying Santo Taco Bar, Intoxibakes, Falls Landing and Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars. Humans get food and drink, and the dogs get treats. Get tickets here.

If you love bacon, Perkins is celebrating Baconfest with returning favorites and new items. Offerings with bacon include eggs benedict, a breakfast skillet with steak and broccoli, a pepperjack omelet, maple bacon pancakes, a cheeseburger and BLT. Seasonal offerings include a pumpkin spice pancake platter, pumpkin pie or pumpkin cream cheese Mammoth Muffin.

Chili’s Grill & Bar has a new BOGO special on boneless wings that’s good on Mondays.

Ruby Tuesday has added special menu items for fall. New offerings include a hickory bourbon pork chop, French Quarter Chicken & Shrimp, Island Chicken & Shrimp, pumpkin cheesecake and Ultimate Chocolate Cake. It also brought back cheesesteaks. In addition to a traditional› Philly, there are new five-cheese and hickory bourbon offerings.

Changes in hours, service

  • Cherry Rock Farms has started fall hours for the market: 10 am. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekend. The pumpkin patch and corn maze are open 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekend. On the weekends, the pumpkin patch east of the market offers hayrides, goats to pet and a s’mores fire pit.
  • With the arrival of fall, Charlie’s Pizza has stopped serving lunch on the weekend. Saturday hours are 4 to 10 p.m. and Sunday hours are 4 to 9 p.m. It’s also open 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 4 to 10 p.m. Friday.
  • The Goat Bar & Grill in Hartford has tweaked its Sunday hours to opening and closing an hour later: noon to 8 p.m.
