Restaurant Roundup: Margaritaville Monday, Wurst Wednesday, Shark Week drink

July 15, 2021

If you’re tired of Taco Tuesday, PAve has created Margaritaville Mondays. Get half-priced chicken tacos, nachos, and chips and salsa all day at the downtown bar and restaurant. For drink specials, there are $3 Mexican beers and $3 margaritas in five flavors.

Look’s Marketplace is tackling another day of the week for specials with Wurst Wednesdays. Every week will feature a different bratwurst. This week’s offering was the Carolina Hot Link with a house-made smoked hot link, pulled pork and homemade coleslaw on a toasted hoagie roll.

Flyboy Donuts has started making chocolate yeast-raised doughnuts. They’re available Friday through Sunday at all four locations.

Celebrate Discovery network’s Shark Week with an appropriately gory drink at Sonic Drive-In. The creation starts with an “ocean” of blue coconut slush with a layer of strawberries topped with two gummy sharks. Substitute blue raspberry if coconut isn’t your flavor.

Remedy Brewing Co. has added several new items to its food menu, including a Reuben, pork bahn mi, barbecue chicken bacon ranch and Mediterranean flatbreads. The Mediterranean is vegetarian and has hummus, smoked vegetables, feta and mozzarella cheeses, oregano and tzatziki sauce. Another new vegetarian option: barbecue jackfruit sliders.

Toppers Pizza has new plant-based menu items. Pizza options include pesto margherita, Nashville Hot ‘N Crispy, Vegan Buffalo Chicken-Less and Vegan Tuscano. Beyond Meat chicken tenders and a vegan version of Topperstix also are available.

Sanaa’s 8th Street Gourmet has added a freezer to make some of its customer favorites available as take-and-bake options. Offerings are starting off with the shish tawook sauce, eggplant caponata, eggplant mosakaa, spanakopita, beef kibbeh and vegan kibbeh.

Cherry Rock Farms has opened its store for the season. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The produce farm, which also stocks local eggs, meat, honey, jam and other items, is at 48105 264th St., just south of Brandon.

Why have just a classic mimosa with orange juice when you’ve got more options? Chef Lance’s on Phillips has added mimosa flights with four flavors of juice.

Because of staffing shortages, The Keg has adjusted its hours at both locations, closing earlier at 8 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
