Nov. 9, 2023

Bread & Circus Sandwich Kitchen is rolling out new menu items that offer a wider variety of options than the usual sandwiches, salads and soups. So far, the new plated entrees include Spaghetti and Meatless Balls and Peach Curry Pork Chop. Two new dishes will be added Friday: Walleye Bouillabaisse with walleye, shrimp, fennel and tomato served with Look’s Bakehouse baguette and rouille, a sauce typically served with the fish soup. Pork Lo Mein has five spice smoked pork, soy, onions, bell peppers, carrots, local shitake mushrooms and bok choy. And there’s a new falafel dish served with muhammara, arugula, sumac-pickled onions and sambal coconut cream. And ramen has returned to the menu. There’s just a few days left to catch the seasonal Maple Squash Salad and the Oktoberfest Burger that’s topped with German potato salad, sauerkraut, Muenster cheese and beer mustard on a Look’s Bakehouse caraway sea salt bun.

Kaladi’s Bistro is offering a Pay It Forward day Nov 16. Stop by the restaurant for a free entree and nonalcoholic beverage. The offer is available throughout the day, but seating is limited. “What’s the catch? We just ask that you take this act of kindness and please pay it forward to someone else that same day,” the restaurant says on its event page. The restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

WoodGrain Brewing Co. now serves food. The downtown brewery has added a selection of Sunny’s Pizza. Two of the five offerings are custom flavors for WoodGrain. Sunny’s has four other wholesale partners: Glacial Lakes Distillery, Lupulin Brewing Co. and The Orion Pub, all in Sioux Falls, and The Bunker Bar in Harrisburg.

Here’s a look at the new winter menu for The Cattitude Cafe. It will be available through December.

The cafe that features a room where customers can hang out with cats that are available for adoption also is starting movie nights. Every Friday night, Cattitude will show a movie in the cat room at 7 p.m. New movies will be shown every month. Up first: “The Barbie Movie.” Book a spot at thecattitudecafe.com.

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, R Wine Bar & Kitchen has added four menu items: Pasta Amore is sautéed garlic, shallots and local mushrooms that are combined with fresh diced tomatoes and toasted pine nuts in a pecorino cream sauce. The Chilean Sea Bass is poached and served with caramelized Brussels sprouts in a lemon pepper sauce, and the Portobello Pork Chop is a Frenched bone-in chop topped with a portobello sauce and served with Boursin mashed potatoes. The Swordfish Steak is pan-seared and served with tomato confit red quinoa, chimichurri, lemon and micro baby carrots.

R Wine Bar’s sister restaurant, Maribella Ristorante, marked its first anniversary recently and has new menu items. Some of the offerings are the Burrata Fritta, Asiago Gnocchi, Pizza Napoletana, Tagliatelle al Burro and Bistecca di Maiale, which is a grilled tomahawk pork chop. For cocktails, there’s the Cafee Martini.

November’s feature menu at Maribella includes Past’a Aragosta, which is lobster tossed with fettuccine in a spicy lemon cream sauce and topped with Parmigiano Reggiano, and Bonet, a traditional chocolate caramel custard dessert with notes of amaretti, cocoa, espresso and rum.

Murph’s Burgers & Fries has added mac-and-cheese to the menu, creating new options for diners. Top it with bacon jam, add pulled pork or a burger patty.

JL Beers has new sweet and savory menu items. There’s a cinnamon sugar pretzel with vanilla icing and the Wham! Bam! Bacon Jam! Burger that also has melted gouda, crispy onion and pickles.

Through November, $1 from every burger of the month sold at Wileys will go to the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance. The Spicy Richie includes two smash patties with seared onions, hickory smoked gouda and hot cayenne BBQ sauce topped with crispy bacon on a toasted brioche bun.

The food truck Southern Perfection BBQ is still running, but taking note of the changing weather, it has started to offer family meals that will feed up to five people. Options include 3 pounds of pulled pork, 3 pounds of brisket, two racks of ribs or the Double or Nothing with two meats. All family meals come with two classic sides and rolls. Give the cooks 24-hour notice.

Oh My Cupcakes has two new flavors this month, including one that’s brand-new to the bakery: Orange Cranberry Bliss. The returning flavor is Sweet Potato Spice.

Chevy’s Fresh-Mex has a new seasonal margarita: cranberry. It’s half-price every Tuesday and Wednesday until the end of the year.

The new featured flatbread of the month at The SandBar & Grill is the jalapeno chicken popper.

The SandBar also has a limited-time feature menu that started a couple of weeks ago, so there’s still time to try many of the options.

The Saucy Boyz in the kitchen at Remedy Brewing Co. have new menu items. There’s a quarter-pound all-beef hot dog or Beyond Brat in a Breadsmith bun with a long list of choice of toppings and the Pepperoni Lover’s Flatbread. The sandwich It’s Pork Lime is smoked pork tossed in a spicy garlic ginger lime sauce and served open-face on a Breadsmith bun with cabbage, garlic mayo and pickled onion. Chips and queso is now chips and queso and chorizo.

The turkey dinner on a burger is back at Crooked Pint Ale House. The Cornucopia is an American cheese-filled patty topped with thick sliced turkey, a heap of mashed potatoes, bourbon-soaked cranberries and gravy. It’s served with pub fries.
