Restaurant Roundup: New brunch spots, Mardi Gras specials

Gibs Sports Bar has added breakfast on the weekend. “As we are still in the experimental phase, our menu is subject to change, but we currently offer a variety of dishes, including omelets, pancakes, French toast, mimosas and bloody marys,” the bar said in a post on social media. Hours are 8 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, followed by the lunch menu at noon.

Weekend brunch has returned at Wileys. The menu is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and includes offerings like French toast, steak and eggs, and birria tacos. The full menu also is available.

It’s time for Mardi Gras at Blarney Stone. Food items include shrimp etouffee, Cajun chicken and shrimp, Cajun cod and croissant beignets. Featured cocktails are French 75, Hurricane, Bananas Foster Martini and Purple Zydeco. Mardi Gras specials run through March 4.

M.B. Haskett has a new dinner menu with old favorites and new additions. Dinner is served from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Wingstop is giving away 1 million free tenders to celebrate its new recipe, which is says is “a vehicle for bigger flavor, offering a lighter and crispier experience.” Starting Monday, visit Wingstop.com/MillionTenderGiveaway to claim a code for two free tenders with any purchase, while supplies last.

Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews has new pizza-inspired dishes. The Mario Cristo is like a Monte Cristo, but the deep-fried sandwich has provolone, mozzarella, ham, pepperoni and Parmesan garlic sauce. The Pepperoni Pizza Burger is an 8-ounce ground beef patty topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni between two slices of Texas toast that are covered in melted cheese and pepperoni. The Italian Sampler features a combination of the other Pizza-licious offerings: pepperoni and chicken bacon ranch pizza rolls, fried ravioli and Parmesan and garlic boneless wings. The Mario Cristo, ravioli and pizza rolls are limited-time features.

And while you’re at Sickies Garage, you can enjoy dessert for $5. Offerings include peach pie nachos, apple pie nachos, key lime pie, cookie sundae and brownie sundae. 

The Treasury kept its January Downtown Battle Burger entry on its latest menu. The French Onion Burger is there, along with additions like Mortadella Sliders and Walleye Cakes. See the full menu here.

There’s still time to try R Wine Bar & Kitchen’s feature for February. It’s a New York strip served with pomegranate glaze on potato leek puree, garnished with chives and pomegranate seeds.

Through Friday, Crooked Pint Ale House is offering a BOGO special on burgers and lucys for dine-in only.

Rewards members at Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers can get a $1 Original Double on Monday, National Steakburger Day, if they order through the app.

Papa Murphy’s has a BOGO special through Monday at participating locations. The offer is good on regular-priced large or family sizes. Use the code BOGO.

Critters Bar in Crooks is hosting a Hot Ones wing challenge at 7 p.m. Saturday. Pay $25 and see if you can eat all 10 wings that get progressively spicier. Tickets include two drinks. Message the bar ASAP to be included because there are only 20 spots.

R Wine Bar & Kitchen is hosting a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday featuring wines from Juggernaut with half of the money raised through ticket sales going to the Great Plains Zoo as it incorporates offerings from the Butterfly House & Aquarium. Tickets are $200 for the four-course meal. Call the restaurant for reservations.

If you enjoy TCH beverages, Glacial Lakes Distillery & Brewhouse has started THC Tuesdays. Those drinks are $7 from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays. Shown is the Kingdom Heart, which is included on the menu in the next tidbit.

Glacial Lakes also has a new featured craft cocktail menu.

Lucky’s Bar downtown has new happy hour specials. From 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and all day Sunday, get half-priced pizzas, two-for-$6 well drinks, $20 domestic beer buckets and $12 domestic beer pitchers.

Changes in hours, service

  • Chef Lance’s on Phillips has decided to stop serving lunch again. The 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. service returned four months ago, “and it’s been highly successful,” the restaurant said in a post on social media. “But sometimes, especially when you’re older and wiser, you realize there is a cost for everything, and being super-busy means there isn’t time for much else.” The final lunch service will be March 1. After that, hours will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
  • The new brick-and-mortar version of Taqueria Juanita has added online ordering.
  • Big Sioux Burger is opening one hour later now – at 8 a.m. daily.
