It’s not too early to start making plans for Easter!

The Good Earth Farm near Lennox is hosting its annual free Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 4. The farm will be open from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. with wood-fired pizzas for sale, and the bar will be open. There also will be the Easter Bunny, farm animals and face painting. The hunt for 1,000 eggs sponsored by Dacotah Bank begins at 11:30 a.m. (ish) with designated areas for kids by age.

Great Shots is hosting its annual Easter celebration Saturday, April 4. There’s a brunch buffet, golf, an Easter egg hunt for those 10 and younger at the Sanford Diamonds and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Kids should bring their own Easter basket for the free hunt, which will feature 15,000 eggs. And if you’re looking for a restaurant with a special Easter buffet or brunch for Sunday, April 5, here are some we noticed:

  • All Day Cafe is serving a plated brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Make reservations by calling 605-274-7711.

  • The Barrel House is serving brunch buffet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There also will be mimosa and bloody mary bars. Moms will receive a flower, and kids will get an Easter egg with a surprise. Reservations aren’t being taken.
  • Big J’s Roadhouse in Humboldt — not Harrisburg — is serving a buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Prices are $43 for adults and $18 for kids 6-17.

  • Blue Rock Bar & Grill is serving a buffet. Reservations are required for spots at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. or 1 p.m.

  • Cascata Italian Cuisine in the Canopy by Hilton is serving a special buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Prices are $42 for adults and $17 for kids 6-12. Reservations can be made here.

  • Crave American Kitchen & Sushi Bar is serving a buffet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prices are $50 for adults, which includes a complimentary mimosa or glass of sparkling wine, and $20 for kids.   • Crooked Pint Ale House is serving a buffet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prices are $36 for adults, $31 for seniors 62 and older, and $12 for kids 5-12. Reservations are recommended by calling 605-331-2050.
  • All three locations for Fryn’ Pan are serving an Easter buffet from 11 a.m. until it’s gone. Prices are $19 for adults and $7 for kids 12 and younger.

  • Granite City Food & Brewery’s regular Sunday buffet will take on a holiday vibe with the Easter Bunny and additional offerings like whiskey-glazed salmon, Bennie Bock-glazed ham, shrimp scampi tortellini and an extra dessert bar. Easter menus released for Grille 26, Minervas

  • The Gruff Plates + Pours in Brandon is serving brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the kitchen closing at 2 p.m. Reservations are recommended by calling 605-582-4299.

  • The Holiday Inn City Centre is serving a buffet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. See details on the menu, pricing and reservations by clicking here.
  • Johnny Carino’s regular Sunday buffet will get special attention for Easter. Find all the usual favorites with the additions of ham, Italian pot roast, salmon and made-to-order omelets. Serving hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prices are $30 for adults and $15 for kids. Reservations can be made for parties of eight or more at 605-361-7222.
  • Krav’n is serving a plated breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with favorites like biscuits and gravy, French toast bake, omelets, the Krav’n Skillet and more.   • Rivage Oak Kitchen is serving a brunch buffet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

  • Tailgators Grill & Bar in Brandon is serving a buffet from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Prices, which include a nonalcoholic beverage, tax and tip, are $39 for adults, $33 for seniors and $24 for kids age 5-11. Reservations are recommended.

  • Titans Tavern in Tea is having a buffet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that will include the Easter Bunny, an Easter egg hunt and a kids bike giveaway. Prices are $20 for adults and $9 for kids 12 and younger.

For all the pickle-flavor lovers out there: Breadsmith’s new Dill Pickle Sourdough will be available Friday. It has been the featured Friday flavor all month.

Lava’s Coffee in Harrisburg is selling Centerville’s Zebra Donuts on April 2. Zebra King Donuts recently began partnering with area retailers to sells the trademarked offering, which features regular and chocolate raised dough that’s glazed and topped with chocolate icing. Customers can preorder as many as they want by 5 p.m. Tuesday or try their luck and stop in when the coffee shop opens at 6:30 a.m.

The featured pizza for March at Boss’ Pizza & Chicken has earned a permanent spot on the menu. New menu items for spring have been added at Cracker Barrel. New dishes include Hushpuppy Dippers, Farmhouse Scramble, Garden Scramble and Smoky Southern Salmon as a dinner, a salad or a combo with shrimp. Returning favorites include Fresh Strawberry Toast Bake, Eggs in the Basket, Country Ham Dinner, Sugar Ham Dinner, Chicken Noodle Soup and Carrot Cake.

Take-and-bake Detroit-style pizza has arrived at Papa Murphy’s Pizza for a limited time. The square-shaped thick-crust pizza is available with mini cup pepperoni or create-your-own with two toppings.

Noodles & Company is featuring two limited-time entrees as part of its Asian Noodle Collection. Chili Garlic Ramen features noodles sauteed in chili garlic soy sauce, with napa and red cabbage, and spinach. The dish is topped with scallions, Parmesan and an Asian spice blend. Indonesian Peanut Chicken Saute is rice noodles in a spicy peanut sauce with grilled chicken, broccoli, carrots, and napa and red cabbage. It’s finished with cilantro, peanuts and citrus.

CNC Food Factory has three additions to its baked doughnut lineup. Returning are Carnival Crunch and Carrot Cake. New is Rocky Road. It’s a chocolate doughnut with almonds and semi-sweet chocolate chips inside, with marshmallow, chocolate frosting and almond slivers on top. Gluten-free versions also are available.

Dunn Brothers Coffee has added new drinks for spring. Sip on a blueberry vanilla matcha, pineapple whip dirty soda or the shaken strawberry vanilla protein cold brew. For food, there’s a tomato feta egg white frittata and lemon poppyseed muffin.

Over at Ziggi’s Coffee, new additions have arrived. For drinks, try the Gold Rush cold brew, Peach Mango Paradise Fresherz, Tropic Like It’s Hot dirty soda or iced matcha latte. For food, there are spinach feta egg white bites, ham and Swiss croissant sandwiches, blueberry maple scones and turkey pesto paninis.

Events

A Homestead Brew is having one of its signature beer branding events Saturday. Stop out from 2 to 9 p.m., and enjoy a beer by the fire. Sticking a hot stainless steel rod into a beer caramelizes it and changes the flavor into “something new and spectacular.” Backyard BBQ will be there selling food from 4 to 8 p.m.

Gist Wine Shop is launching a monthly series called Civics Uncorked. The events are meant to be “an evening of good wine, thoughtful conversation and small but meaningful action.” The first Civics Uncorked will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday featuring state Rep. Kadyn Wittman, a Democrat from District 15, and House Minority Leader Erin Healy, a Democrat from District 10,to recap the legislative session. Special $10 glass pours will be available.

Wrap up Women’s History Month by celebrating women who shape the world of wine. Parker’s Bistro is hosting a five-course dinner featuring nine wines from California, Italy, German and Argentina. The Women in Wine dinner will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are $100, plus tax and tip. Reservations are required.
