Restaurant Roundup: Cupcake changes, new breakfast bar, featured menus

Dec. 8, 2022

Oh My Cupcakes has changed its menu. Instead of a different lineup of featured cupcakes every month with rotating availability during the week, the bakery is offering “four seasons in a year.” Every three months, there will be a new lineup of flavors, and each one will be offered every day. Here are the picks through February: Bing-a-Ling, Cherries in the Snow, Cupid’s Kiss and Mr. Grumpypants. Everyday favorites such as Pleasantville and Lemon Drop will be offered year-round. Owner Melissa Johnson noted in a blog post that the change was based on the “ever-rising cost of the ingredients we use the most” and pointed out that it will lead to “significantly less waste.” The streamlined menu means more options for customers with dietary restrictions. In addition to the regular specialty offerings, gluten-free mini cupcakes and three vegan options are available daily.

Pomegranate Market has added a breakfast hot bar. It’s served from 8 to 11 a.m. weekdays and features a variety of offerings such as frittatas, bagel or egg muffin breakfast sandwiches, French toast, and biscuits and gravy. Vegetarian and vegan options typically are available. Customers pay by the pound.

Tailgators Grill & Bar in Brandon has food specials for December that will fuel customers through some chilly days and nights. Baked mac-and-cheese comes with add-ons of chicken and steak, and there’s a shepherd’s pie with sirloin, veggies, beef gravy and a topping of mashed potatoes. The drink menu includes such festive offerings as a sugar cookie martini and a cranberry whiskey sour.

Beef stroganoff is back on the menu at Tinner’s Public House as part of its December food features. There’s also a jumbo shrimp cocktail, chicken cordon bleu sandwich, club wrap and Philly cheese steak flatbread.

The new menu at The Rush has five additions: Rush Tacos, St. Louis-style pork ribs, an Italian beef sandwich, hot beef sandwich and taco pizza.

Ruby Tuesday has new holiday menu items. Here’s a few of the highlights: crab dip, cheesy pizza poppers, Hawaiian ribeye, crab cakes and the holiday trio with a 6-ounce ribeye, half-rack of baby-back ribs, crispy shrimp and fries.

Holiday gift boxes with 12 bottles of wine from R Wine Bar & Kitchen have a global theme this year. The first year featured the 12 Days of Christmas, and last year’s wines paired with holiday movie classics. This year, “we found well-known wine-producing countries like Italy, France and Australia along with obscure countries like India, Israel, Uruguay and Lebanon,” owner Riccardo Tarabelsi said.

From 1 to 2 p.m. learn about preparing prime rib, including a horseradish sauce recipe and cocktail demo. From 2 to 4 p.m., watch an evergreen centerpiece demonstration by Alissa’s Flower Farm & Designs, and get greenery bundles for $10.
