Restaurant Roundup: Cherry Creek update, new breakfast, Pizza Cheeks expansion

April 27, 2023

Here’s a sign of hope for fans of Cherry Creek Grill. The restaurant on East 26th Street, which has been closed since a kitchen fire in late September 2022, received a building permit earlier this month to repair the damage. The permit includes replacing fire- and smoke-damaged walls and ceiling tile, refinishing hardwood flooring, repainting walls and ceilings, and other work. We’ve reached out to the restaurant, but the owner hasn’t returned messages. The sign outside says it’s closed temporarily for remodeling.

The Rush Bar & Grill has added breakfast on the weekends. It’s served from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays. The full menu is available beginning at 11 a.m. both days.

Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars has started serving Pizza Cheeks pizza. Pepperoni and cheese are available by the slice or pie, “which are half the size of the ones at Pizza Cheeks,” said Stacey Berry, who owns the brewery wth her husband, Dan. They’re available whenever the taproom is open. Stop by Tuesday through Thursday and get two pints and a pizza for $20. Here’s a photo of the full-size version that’s available at Pizza Cheeks.

CH Patisserie is celebrating its 10th anniversary Saturday. The first 100 customers that day will get a free cake frosting French macaron. Door prizes will be given out. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day. “Can you believe it’s been 10 years since we sold everything and moved to Sioux Falls with a dream of sharing our passion for European-inspired desserts?” owners Chris and Caryn Hanmer said on social media. “And from the beginning, the city welcomed us with open arms. We are so grateful, and this birthday bash is our way of saying ‘merci’ for 10 wonderful years!”

Dinner Birdie is up and running under new ownership. Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery bought the business from Chef Jeni & Co. last month and suspended offerings for a few weeks. Soups and meals started filling the refrigerator and freezer cases at the downtown restaurant last week. Delivery is available in Sioux Falls, Brandon, Tea and Harrisburg for $8 or for free on orders over $100. Curbside pickup also is available. Online ordering is coming next. See what’s available at dinnerbirdie.com or on Facebook.

The special will be available beginning at 5 p.m.

Sinless Sweets is expanding its Sunday crepe brunch to Saturdays. Now, they’ll be served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. Options include Plain Jane with coconut whipped cream and strawberries; Savory Business with chickpeas, spinach and mushrooms; B+C with coconut whipped cream, bananas and chocolate ganache; and Ultimate with breakfast potatoes, spicy lentils, avocado and vegan sour cream. On Saturday, the bistro, which specializes in gluten-free and vegan food, has longer hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
