Popular 605 Made Night Market maker returns to the art scene

Aug. 20, 2021

Note: This event has been rescheduled for 12 to 6 p.m. Aug. 29 in the Cherapa Place parking lot.

One of the most loved 605 Made creators is back after a short absence with a unique twist to a fan-favorite product.

Carmen Dyar of Minglewood Studios will be once again selling custom-made clocks at the 605 Made Night Market, this time with an interactive twist.

Dyar’s Create a Clock concept will allow customers to customize everything from the face of their clock to the backboard. She then helps them to assemble their clock, allowing for every sale to be unique.

“This is my return to my creative endeavors,” Dyar said. “I’m just excited to come back. I’m back to focusing on my creative work to have a stress reliever, but also because I really enjoy it.”

The 605 Made Night Market will be from 12 to 6 p.m. Aug. 29 in the parking lot of Cherapa Place. It’s co-organized by Knotty Gnome Variety & Salvage and SiouxFalls.Business and sponsored by The First National Bank in Sioux Falls and Dow Rummel Village.

Dyar has another unique way she’s returning to the Night Market: She’s incorporating her other business, which is called SLVR Linings, into her booth. The business is founded on Dyar’s passion for vintage Airstreams. She owns two of them, and this year, she’ll be operating Create a Clock out of her 1962 Airstream Bambi, which she recently gutted. Dyar said she also sees a future for SLVR Linings where she rents out the vehicles for events.

“They could be used for photo booths or podcast studios, a mobile boutique or a party rental,” she said.

While Dyar is currently based out of Rapid City, she said she’s ready to come back to Sioux Falls, where Minglewood Studios was born, and revisit the place she called home for 30 years.

“I’m excited to come back to Sioux Falls and see my new friends and old friends and bring this concept back,” Dyar said. “I’m ready to relaunch (Minglewood Studios) in the place that I love and miss.”
