Twin sisters who gained their retail experience helping brides find wedding gowns to make them feel beautiful on that big day have opened a clothing boutique where they can help women “feel beautiful every single day.”

Love Marlow opened earlier this week at Lake Lorraine, and the boutique specializing in plus-size clothing is having its grand opening Saturday. It’s owned by Leslie and Stacey Malmgren, who worked at The French Door for several years.

They’re excited about their location in a Lake Lorraine retail center along Marion Road.

“It’s so up and coming, and it’s changing all the time,” Stacey Malmgren said of the growing development that’s between Marion and Interstate 29 south of 26th Street.

“We love the big-box stores in the back, and the local shops along Marion Road. We’re hopeful that we’ll become that destination for them,” Leslie Malmgren said of the shoppers already drawn to the national retailers.

The sisters designed their store so it’s filled with natural light from windows in the front and back, which has a view of the lake.

The Malmgrens went to market in Las Vegas and found designers with plus-size pieces in their collections. They’re offering several lines with sizes 12-28, making it possible for Love Marlow to offer “a lot of different looks,” Leslie Malmgren said.

Other boutiques in Sioux Falls carry a few pieces of plus-size clothing, “but it’s a very unique idea to have a whole store full,” she said. “We are plus size and have been shopping and wondering why someone wasn’t doing this.”

For the grand opening Saturday, shoppers will find 10 percent off everything and be treated to snacks and drinks.

“We’re hoping a bunch of people will stop in and see what we have to offer,” Leslie Malmgren said.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
