From corporate gatherings to nonprofit fundraisers and, of course, weddings, the early months at Monick Yards have delivered plenty of memorable events.

“We’ve been very humbled by the response from the community,” said Amy Boes, who also co-owns and co-manages event venues Convolo and Casetta with Angela Merritt.

“We hear a lot of excitement around our location, with people telling us Monick Yards is a great addition to downtown venue options.”

Located at 605 E. Eighth St., Monick Yards quickly is building a reputation as an exceptional modern venue that can accommodate a broad range of events. With 12,000 square feet, the space can hold up to 400 for seated events or can be subdivided.

“We always love to highlight the unique layout because with two separate spaces within our venue, our guests have the option of utilizing both sides or just booking half-space,” Boes said.

The Reception Hall is wonderfully suited for larger-scale seated dinners, up to 350 people.

The Grand Hall works great for cocktail hours, smaller-scale celebrations, meetings or speaking engagements from 50 to 200 people.

“This allows great versatility for event options,” Boes added. “The two spaces work well together for weddings with a ceremony and reception side, or for other larger corporate events or nonprofits that can benefit from both sides as well.”

For instance, the nonprofit Emily’s Hope recently hosted a fundraiser dinner in the Reception Hall and the event’s art show and live auction in the Grand Hall.

In addition to providing a new fresh space for the community, the team at Monick Yards helps address all the details that contribute to a successful event.

At the recent Corks & Collars fundraiser for Sioux Empire Pit Rescue,  the theme was “James Bond meets dog-lover chic.”

Guests enjoyed Casino Royale-style gaming with hors d’oeuvres by Chef Dominique and drinks by the team from Carpenter Bar, Highball and The Treasury, who also are partners in Monick Yards.

“Not only do we put an emphasis on service and bar offerings during the event, but our venue directors work closely with our guests leading up to their booking,” Boes said.

“We work with them on establishing an efficient room floor plan, recommend vendors that may be well suited and give advice on how to best execute their unique event in the space. Our technology options are also a great feature we offer, from high-definition projectors, state-of-the-art sound systems, wireless microphones and more.”

For weddings, “our guests have been pleased that we offer a modern industrial style in contrast to the many barns in the area,” Boes said. “We also always receive feedback that the space is much larger than it looks from the outside, so we always encourage folks to schedule a tour with us and to walk through it for themselves!”

As wedding season approaches, Monick Yards has filled up fast and is beginning to book 2025 weddings.

“Corporate events and nonprofits who book during the week have great options yet, though we always recommend choosing your date based on venue availability rather than nailing down a date before your venue search begins,” Boes said.
