New restaurants near openings at Cherapa Place
Dec. 9, 2025
A trio of new food and beverage options is on track to open next month at Cherapa Place.
Harvester Kitchen by Bryan, owned by Bryan Moscatello, is relocating to The Dakota Flats building at Cherapa Place from the Harvester Building at 196 E. Sixth St.
The new space at 310 N. Reid Place will span 5,000 square feet on the first floor of the building, which also includes SISU Fit and loft apartments above.
“Things are going well,” Moscatello said. “I’m happy to say we’re moving along really strong. The space is coming together nicely.”
Moscatello, whose umbrella business is called Sense Hospitality, plans to expand his Nunzio’s Food Hall concept, designate his fine dining operation as HK in a stand-alone space and add a tasting room for distillery BlackFork Farms.
Nunzio’s Food Hall, which has been closed since mid-November because the pizza oven had to be moved into the new space, will open first in January, starting with lunch service and a Downtown Burger Battle entry. Nunzio’s will reopen shortly after Harvester Kitchen by Bryan closes Dec. 31 in the original location.
“We’re looking at doing that the beginning of January. That’s the goal at this point, but we’re still waiting on a couple little things to confirm and all the approvals for occupancy,” Moscatello said. “But we’re hopeful. The guys there are doing a fantastic job. It looks really good, so we’re very excited.”
Nunzio’s lunch menu will be ordered at the counter and include pizza, paninis, a couple of salads and pastries, he said.
Dinner service at Nunzio’s probably will start about a week later. At dinner, the format will transition to table service and include pasta and more entrees — “more of a full-service restaurant at night.”
At the same time, Moscatello plans to open in partnership with BlackFork Farms, which is near Brandt in eastern South Dakota, with a retail space and distillery tasting room.
The plan is to continue to bring in food hall-style concepts, likely starting in February. That will include the existing Pierre’s Jambon Beurre ham sandwiches and could include brisket, ribs and other barbecue at some point.
The final concept to open will be HK, which will be similar but smaller than the current Harvester Kitchen, with soft seating and a fireplace in addition to a carpeted dining room.
It likely will open in late January.
“HK has the most flexibility because we all know it and are familiar with it, but it’s a different space … and it’s never easy when you go to a new location,” Moscatello said. “We know our service and food style, and that will make it easier to be able to turn that restaurant on as opposed to having to rebuild steps and service. We just need to get used to a new location.”
In the meantime, several of Moscatello’s team members are working in the new space on areas such as a block wall and a firewood wall, along with two wine cellars.
Artist Chuck Bennis plans to do a graffiti-style mural on one of the walls.
The restaurants are hiring. Moscatello estimates that he needs about a dozen more people in front-line positions. A hiring event will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 15, or apply online here.
“We do need people,” Moscatello said. “We have a lot of people in-house that have been with me a long time, and we have internal people moving up to more managerial roles, but we know we need to expand our team, which is exciting because we’ve been such a small, tight team forever.”
Being located at Cherapa Place will help introduce the concepts to more people as part of a broader development, he added.
“We really needed to be part of the destination,” he said. “I think it’s going to be really good, and we’re really looking forward to it.”
To encourage guests to visit the new location, he’s offering a $50 gift card to each person who makes a purchase through Dec. 28 with the exception of special events.
“We’ve always really wanted to celebrate our guests and be very generous, so … that gift card will be redeemable in any of our other operations,” he said. “We really want to welcome them into our space.”
