A business designed to deliver a speedy oil change while customers stay in their vehicles is opening in Sioux Falls.

Take 5 Oil Change is under construction on East 10th Street between Taco John’s and Caribou Coffee.

It’s being franchised by Max Pfeiffer and Kevin Weisbeck, who are based in Aberdeen and have a background in the hospitality industry.

“It’s a quick oil change. We really focus on speed but also quality of the service,” Pfeiffer said.

The average oil change is done in 11 minutes, he said. The business doesn’t offer tire rotation.

“We’ll check pressure, fill tires, do air filters, but we’re not doing any full-service outside of the oil change,” he said. “You don’t get out of the car with our service. We greet you with a bottle of water, a dog treat if you have a dog; if you have kids we have gummy snacks. So the customer stays in the car, and we try and make it as fast and efficient as we can.”

The Sioux Falls location will have two bays and will serve vehicles in the order in which they arrive.

The franchisees opened their first two locations in Rapid City this fall and see Sioux Falls as a market for up to three locations.

“We’d been looking at different locations in Sioux Falls, and we really liked the traffic downtown, and there’s so much housing and development and growth on the east side,” Pfeiffer said. “Our traffic minimum is 20,000 cars per day, and it checked all the real estate boxes we were looking for.”

The plan is to hire a manager and assistant manager in Sioux Falls and then seven or eight technicians as opening approaches. Depending on weather, the plan is to open later this year or early next year.
