New candy/soda shop opens at Empire Place
Aug. 14, 2024
Wall-to-wall candy and soda have filled the latest business to open at Empire Place.
Rocket Fizz took over the former Hawaii Fluid Art space at the end of one of the retail centers along West 41st Street.
It’s a national concept that offers more than 500 flavors of soda, mostly in glass bottles, along with a large selection of candy and novelty items.
The franchisees, John and Vickie DeWitte, are franchise consultants and liked the concept of Rocket Fizz because it has been in business since 2007 and has about 100 stores nationwide, they said.
Among the massive selection of candies are 100 varieties of taffy.
There also is a section of international candies from Europe and Asia.
And there are nostalgic treats.
While much of the inventory arrived for opening day, more is on the way.
The store even takes special requests if somehow your favorite isn’t already on the shelf.
Hours for Rocket Fizz at 4129 W. 41st St. are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Other upcoming openings at Empire Place include Hallmark and Snooze Mattress Co., which both plan to open yet this year.
