“SMGA is excited to welcome Montrose into our growing regional partnership,” said Mike Jaspers, chair of the SMGA board of directors. “Each new member community strengthens our collective ability to support economic growth, advocate for our communities and create shared opportunities across the Sioux Metro region.”
Local leaders said they see membership in Sioux Metro Growth Alliance as a strategic step to support Montrose’s long-term growth and community goals.
By joining SMGA, Montrose will gain access to regional resources, partnerships and expertise aimed at supporting existing businesses, attracting new investment and enhancing overall quality of life. The collaboration aligns with Montrose’s commitment to thoughtful growth while preserving its small-town character, its leaders said.
“We are pleased to join the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance,” said Nick Vogel, City Council member. “This partnership provides Montrose with valuable connections and tools to help us plan strategically, support local businesses and position our community for future success.”
Sioux Metro Growth Alliance strives to serve as “the ultimate resource partner,” helping advise member communities and counties on all things “growth,” preparing them for future opportunities and strengthening the region as a whole by creating more intentional communication and collaboration.
SMGA’s work is centered on recognizing, celebrating and promoting the distinct identities of each member community while offering tailored economic and community development support.
“SMGA’s mission is to empower communities to grow in ways that reflect their unique strengths while maintaining their identities,” said Tyler Tordsen, president and CEO of the organization. “Located two miles north of I-90 and right on South Dakota Highway 38, Montrose brings a strong sense of community and opportunity to our region, and we’re looking forward to working alongside local leaders to support their priorities and goals.”
