Low-cost variety store Miniso has opened at The Empire Mall.

It’s located between Express and Footlocker.

Merchandise includes household and consumer goods such as toys, home decor, collectibles, cosmetics, candy, stationery and kitchenware.

Miniso was founded a decade ago by a Chinese entrepreneur and is headquartered in China, though the company has reported a Japanese co-founder.

There are more than 5,500 stores in more than 100 countries and regions, and the Sioux Falls location is the first in South Dakota.

Intoxibakes also has opened nearby in the former Great American Cookies space near the Sanford Children’s Play Area.

It’s a temporary spot for the locally owned bakery that moved from downtown.

In addition to its bakery case, Intoxibakes offers custom and wedding cake orders in the temporary home. The owners also have Candy Cloud Factory, and they’ve installed a cotton candy machine in the mall location.
