Midco call center for lease after shift to remote work

March 1, 2023

One of the buildings on the Midco campus is for lease as its workforce has shifted to working more from home.

The corporate headquarters in the Thelin Business Center in northwest Sioux Falls includes two buildings connected by an atrium.

By about a year from now, the plan is to shift operations to one building at 4020 W. Cayman St.

“This decision was made because we no longer need a giant call center as most of our customer support team members work from home,” said Paige Pearson Meyer, vice president of corporate communications.

“This transition will not impact our workforce or our commitment to our customers or the Sioux Falls community.”

The 53,000-square-foot building at 3901 N. Louise Ave. is listed with Raquel Blount of Lloyd Cos.

“It’s got great visibility and frontage, tons of parking, a break room, conference center and outdoor courtyard,” she said. “It’s a cool building.”

The space could continue to function as a customer service center but also could be updated to a more corporate office, she said.

“It has a level of class and some design features that give it a more corporate feel,” Blount said. “It’s a great opportunity for a corporation looking for a new location or maybe somebody coming from out of state. And it’s conveniently located because your employees can easily get to that location if they live in Hartford or Brandon. The proximity to I-90 and 29 is key.”

The move from Midco is the latest in a commercial real estate market that has seen multiple call centers become available in recent months, including spaces that once were used by Wells Fargo and Citibank.
