And the winning brew goes to: Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars.

The brewery at 434 E. Eighth St. bested the competition in the annual Mash Madness event organized by Downtown Sioux Falls Inc.

Mash Madness drew five competing breweries with specially crafted beverages for the month of March.

Covert owners Daniel and Stacey Berry received the traveling trophy for their Say Cheese, a strawberry cherry cheesecake pastry sour.

There were 1,650 votes cast. Last year, about 4,300 beers were sold, and this year more than 5,320 beers were sold.

Say Cheese is still available while supplies last. It’s on tap and in cans.
