Lucy Albers revels in variety of marketing Premier Center

This week’s Up-and-Comer is Lucy Albers, senior marketing manager for the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Name: Lucy Albers

Age: 31

Hometown: Garretson

Job title: Senior marketing manager

What brought you to Sioux Falls?

I grew up just outside of Sioux Falls, so I’ve always had a connection to it. After college, I was job hunting and tried a few different options before landing back in Sioux Falls where I felt more “at home.”

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

I feel rooted into Sioux Falls. I love my job, I have great friends and co-workers, and there are so many nonprofits and organizations that I can actively stand with. There’s always a million things to do, and I fill my time with everything from volunteering to attending art shows and live music to hanging out at any and all local spots downtown. It’s big city and small town perfectly combined.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

The fact that every day is different, and we get to do something that nobody else does in this town. We have the honor of hosting so many different events, and it’s great to work on all of them and provide that value to the community.

How did you get connected to your industry?

I interned with Pepper Entertainment in college and eventually just became an employee. I spent years connecting myself to the local music and art scene, learning about “show biz,” and eventually landed a job in the box office of the iconic Arena.

Describe working at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in three words.

Always something new.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

Less than a business and maybe more of an offer, but I’d love to see more options and better pricing for flights in and out of town. I have several friends and work associates that have issues affording a trip to town, so they don’t do it as often, which takes potential money out of the market.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully a homeowner but definitely a stronger professional with more leadership roles within the industry and potentially on a city/community board or committee where I can help the continuous growth of our beautiful town.
