Kidtopia will be going from two locations to one.

The locally owned toy store is leaving The Bridges at 57th, where Sheryl Nelson opened it 14 years ago.

She’s keeping her second location at east-side Dawley Farm Village, which opened in 2014.

“I’m ready to just be in one place and not be all over town,” she said. “I just want one location.”

The east side of Sioux Falls has been growing annually, Nelson said, and she sees more potential with all the new housing on the way.

“At Dawley, we’re growing every year and growing a lot more every year, and that’s what I like about it,” she said.

She’s also hoping consolidating in one store will help with staffing. Recently, four employees were out sick at The Bridges, and she had to close down temporarily.

The store will close Wednesday. Most merchandise will shift to the Dawley Farms store, but Nelson is offering 10 percent off in the meantime.

Fixtures, shelves and displays also are being sold.
