Juice bar offering smoothies, acai bowls coming to Dawley Farm Village

Nekter Juice Bar, a fast-growing national restaurant that also serves smoothies and acai bowls, is opening its first Sioux Falls location at Dawley Farm Village.
It’s being franchised by Jody and Melissa Reno, who discovered it through a friend in California.
“We wanted to own a business and have more control,” Jody Reno said. “(Nekter) fit the health and wellness journey we’ve been on as a family the last several years … and we really liked the message Nekter brings.”
The concept’s creators “wanted it to not just be healthy and fresh but taste good,” he added. “It’s healthy, it’s all-natural, no artificial flavors or processed ingredients or unnecessary sugars.”
The menu includes eight bowls, most with acai, “functional” smoothies with extra protein and regular smoothies, including a create-your-own option, juices and wellness shots.
Because everything is made fresh, ordering through an app is helpful for customers and staff, Reno said.
Nekter Juice Bar will be in a retail center at Dawley Farm that includes T-Mobile, Jersey Mike’s Subs and SafeSplash Swim School, in between Waxing the City and Envy Nails & Spa.
At 1,900 square feet, it’s larger than a typical Nekter store, which is allowing the Renos to include a private meeting room.
“It’s a nice conference room style with tables and a TV they can link into with a laptop,” Melissa Reno said. “Whether it’s a meeting or Bible study or mom group, we’re excited to have it.”
They’re east-side residents and drove by the development often before choosing the location.
“The area is growing so much,” Melissa Reno said. “There’s still a lot coming.”
Nekter “will be a great addition to Sioux Falls,” said Ryan Tysdal of Van Buskirk Cos., who represents Nekter Juice Bar. “Dawley is a strong first location for them in our market.”
The lease means the Dawley Apex retail center is full, and not much retail space remains at the development.
“I have 3,520 square feet coming available in the strip center next to Buffalo Wild Wings, along with a 2,000-square foot space next to Pizza Hut and Budget Blinds,” he said, adding leasing paused for months following the start of the pandemic, but “activity has been very steady these last couple years.”
Nekter Juice Bar plans to open sometime this fall.
The Renos anticipate opening multiple locations for Nekter in Sioux Falls. A second deal could be announced in the coming months, Tysdal said.
