It doesn’t get more convenient than this: Pull into a covered parking spot, walk into airport without ever going outdoors, then turn right and walk straight into your hotel.

The route is possible – and increasingly popular – now that the Sioux Falls Regional Airport has opened its four-story parking ramp connected to the terminal and, by extension, to AeroStay Hotel.

“Our guests are using it, and it’s great,” general manager Rachel Hatch said. “Especially this time of year, you won’t be returning to a car covered in snow, and you easily can walk right from your parking spot to your hotel room.”

AeroStay, a 76-room hotel owned by The Ramkota Companies, literally is one door away from your airport check-in. Walk through it, and you go from the hotel lobby to your airline’s ticketing counter.

“We see a lot of business travelers, plus the occasional family ready for a Disney vacation or going somewhere to escape the winter,” Hatch said. “We have a lot of hunters who come through and a lot of international workers coming and going to work here seasonally.”

The hotel is especially helpful when you’ve got an early morning flight or when you arrive late at night and want to avoid a long drive at inconvenient hours.

“We see a lot of guests from surrounding towns who will come in the day before or stay after a late-night flight and leave the next morning,” Hatch said.

“None of us like to drive in the dark, especially with deer around or during the winter, or if you have someone coming to pick you up from out of town, it allows them to drive when it’s more convenient.”

The hotel quickly fills up when weather disrupts travel, she added.

“Right now for the rest of the holiday season, we still have options, so if you have travel planned, it would be smart to make a reservation soon because our availability can change as soon as the snow starts falling,” Hatch said.

“That’s where our Ramkota sister properties can be helpful, too, because we’re able to connect guests with available rooms there and provide a free shuttle between your hotel and the airport.”

Guests at AeroStay will find convenient flight monitors in the lobby, plus room to relax and watch TV. Additional dining is available just inside the airport, with multiple food and beverage options.

At AeroStay, choose from an “eco-ficient” room ideal for light travelers, with a modern design, or size up to a double queen or executive king room. Amenities include walk-in showers and noise-reduction windows with blackout blinds.

All guest rooms are pet-friendly and include a desk, coffee station, refrigerator and microwave.

“Plus, we offer a complimentary breakfast and workout facility, so our whole approach is to take care of your needs and reduce your travel stress no matter how long you stay with us,” Hatch said.

“We see a lot of repeat guests, especially snowbirds each winter and hunting groups who come back year after year.”

Have a client flying into town? AeroStay also offers two meeting rooms: a boardroom that can accommodate a dozen people and a meeting room that can hold up to 41 people.

“They’re both equipped with TVs, whiteboards, wireless and high-speed internet, phone and data services,” Hatch said. “It’s a great way to optimize your business travel by keeping everything on-site.”

AeroStay marks one decade in business in 2025 and will be making some improvements.

“We’re getting a little face-lift, and some of it has already started,” said Hatch, who has led the hotel “since the construction crew left.”

All guest rooms are in the process of receiving new bedding, and next year will bring new carpet and paint in the hallways and rooms, plus new landscaping out front.

“We get a lot of compliments from guests,” Hatch said. “It’s definitely convenient.”
