Holiday Stationstores rebrands as Circle K

March 29, 2022

Holiday Stationstores locations in Sioux Falls and Brandon are being rebranded as Circle K.

The parent company of Circle K, Canada-based Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., bought Minnesota-based Holiday and its 522 convenience stores in 2017 but did not change the name.

ACT did not buy the Sioux Falls-area stores, which were franchised under the Holiday brand, until 2020 from owners Tom and Melissa Howes. Before using the Holiday name, the locations were called Gas Stop.

New signs went up today at the C-store at 26th Street and Sertoma Avenue and will move to 10 other locations in the Sioux Falls area, with the work taking about six weeks.

A 12th location, the store at 26th and Cliff, is expected to close in late April and will be demolished. Circle K has started work on the same block to build a new store with a car wash. It’s expected to reopen this summer.

Other than signage, no further changes are expected.

“We’re excited to begin a new era in Sioux Falls as Circle K while continuing to build on the proud Holiday heritage in this community,” Gary Brant, vice president of operations for ACT, said in a statement. “While the name on the building is changing, our commitment to making our customers’ lives a little easier every day has never been stronger. Our guests will still enjoy the same products and offerings they’ve known and loved. And over time, we’ll be enhancing their experience with innovative new products and services that Circle K is known for and continues to introduce globally.”

The Sioux Falls stores are the first Holiday Stationstores to be converted to the Circle K brand. The company has not set or announced plans for further rebranding efforts beyond Sioux Falls.

ACT’s brands, Circle K and Couche-Tard, have more than 14,100 stores in 26 countries and territories.
