GreatLIFE’s Harrisburg’s location now ranks among the organization’s largest fitness centers.

An expansion almost doubled the size of the location at 620 N. Cliff Ave. on the north side of  Harrisburg, adding more than 7,000 square feet, including its first basketball hoops.

“It’s completely done, and our members are responding very, very well to it,” vice president of fitness Randall Hill said. “It’s definitely unique among GreatLIFE locations with everything that’s offered here, and it’s really becoming another flagship destination location.”

GreatLIFE Harrisburg opened in 2019 and has enjoyed steady growth in use, located in one of the state’s fastest-growing communities.

The new addition brings “a great setup for lifting,” Hill said. “We have 11 lifting stations in there, dumbbells up to 150 pounds, which is new for us, and a lot of plate-loaded equipment, which is also new and something we haven’t had before.”

GreatLIFE is seeing a big increase in interested lifters, especially among women, he added.

“This location definitely is designed to accommodate them,” Hill said. “There are more places for dumbbells, more lifting stations, and with each membership, you receive a complimentary GreatSTART consultation with a trainer, so they will sit down and talk through your goals and help you develop a plan for how to attack them.”

The expanded Harrisburg fitness center also offers enhanced cardio equipment with “more options and different things we didn’t have previously,” Hill said. “We see a lot of demand for walking and stair-steppers, so we have that in there.”

With the addition of basketball hoops, “the hope is that we get families who are able to be involved together,” he continued. “That area is going to be open for family shooting, not reserved for full-court basketball, so we want you to bring your kids and shoot hoops. Plus, the expanded space gives us great options for our middle school and high school kids who enjoy working out here.”

The space also supports “our ability to host small basketball camps down the road and should be great for our Sports Performance and PLAY Everything programs,” Hill said. “It’s really designed to accommodate all ages.”

GreatLIFE’s popular Recovery Lounge will continue to offer hydromassage beds, Hyperice products such as the Hypervolt massage units, vibrating foam rollers and spheres, and Normatec compression boots.

There also are saunas in the Recovery Lounge and both locker rooms in addition to newly upgraded cold plunge tanks in the Recovery Lounge.

“Those are very popular, so we anticipate that, combined with the expanded fitness space, we’re going to see a lot of interest from members in coming to Harrisburg,” Hill said.
