GreatLIFE adds fitness class for kids – with some twists

GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness members love the hands-on child care offered during workouts, but now kids have a new way to get fit while their parents are at the gym.

GreatLIFE Woodlake has started offering the Les Mills curriculum Born to Move, which blends everything from yoga to cool dance and martial arts moves.

The 30- to 45-minute classes are jam-packed with music, foundation fitness moves and fun games.

Each is tailored to the children’s age and core developmental stage.

“The early years of life are a critical window to form positive habits,” said Dr. Jackie Mills, Les Mills chief creative officer.

“That’s why we’ve developed Born to Move. We want to instill a love of being active in children, so they can grow into active, healthy and happy adults.”

It’s a perfect fit for GreatLIFE’s mission and been a popular addition for kids age 4-12, team lead Misty McBeth said.

“We were looking for a program to involve kids in, so they could be active during the summer,” she said.

And there’s extra incentive for kids to participate.

They are offered a free smoothie at the GreatLIFE juice bar for every 10 classes they complete. Finish 50 classes and  receive an additional prize.
