AT&T Foundation

Through a $27,000 grant from the AT&T Foundation, Dakota State University’s CybHER will address the digital divide issue of knowledge by teaching coding, robotics, online safety and cyber concepts to students who live on the nine Native American reservations across South Dakota. Dakota State CybHER students will visit Boys & Girls Clubs near the reservations over the next year. In addition to teaching students, they will help caregivers understand and mitigate cyber threats. Also, CybHER will reserve spots for 10 middle school girls to attend the free, weeklong GenCyber Girls CybHER camp in June.

CellOnly, Weisser Distributing

CellOnly and Weisser Distributing bought up to 192 tickets for first responders to attend “Come From Away” earlier this month at the Washington Pavilion. Two dozen Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, Sioux Falls Police Department, Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, PatientCare EMS and Metro Communications employees were able to attend each of the eight performances, which told the story of Gander, Newfoundland, and how it cared for the 7,000 airline passengers who were diverted there in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Hy-Vee

Hy-Vee has donated $100,000 to the victims’ families and others who were impacted by the tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The funds went to the Spirit of Giving Fund, which is a nonprofit established by Texas retailer H-E-B that provides financial support to help individuals and communities impacted by natural disasters and other tragedies.

Northern Tool + Equipment

Northern Tool + Equipment has donated $5,000 worth of tools and equipment to the Career and Technical Education Academy to encourage and empower students to pursue a career in the skilled trades. Northern Tool also provided gift cards and other items to select trades students.

Physicians Laboratory

Physicians Laboratory has donated several machines and equipment for PCR molecular testing that were no longer being used to Seeding Labs. The nonprofit organization seeks to “empower every scientist to transform the world” by giving equipment to colleges and universities, university-affiliated research institutes and public research institutes in low- and middle-income countries.

Reliabank, Liddell family

Reliabank and the Liddell family sponsored Uriah’s wish for a backyard play set through Make-A-Wish South Dakota & Montana. The 3-year-old boy from Sioux Falls has leukemia. Business partners helping with the wish were Rainbow Play Midwest – Sioux Falls, Alex’s Tree Services, Brock Contracting and Granberg Landscaping.
