Giving Back recognizes businesses and organizations that are helping our community.

Giving Hope Inc.

Giving Hope Inc., which operates Burnside Bingo, gave out $18,500 in its latest round of grants to organizations that support children. Here are the recipients:

  • McCrossan Boys Ranch, $2,000 for its scholarship fund.
  • The First Tee of South Dakota, $3,200 for scholarships for kids to attend its summer golf camps.
  • Samaritan’s Feet, $3,750 for purchasing shoes to give to local youths.
  • Faith Temple Church, $3,750 to cover the cost of sending at-risk kids to summer camp.
  • Sioux Falls School District, $6,000 to help cover the cost of transportation and admission for field trips for students at Title 1 schools.

Hot Harley Nights

Hot Harley Nights raised $166,000 for Make-A-Wish South Dakota. J&L Harley-Davidson started the event 22 years ago. This year, there were 56 sponsoring companies. More than 200 businesses donated in-kind items with a value of $213,000. In the past fiscal year, Make-A-Wish granted 72 wishes to children with critical illnesses at an average cost of $7,200 a wish.

Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation

The Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation has donated $1,500 to the Tea Area School District to buy tools and equipment for the building trades program.
