Four ways to prep for golf season

This piece is brought to you by GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness.

The snow is melting, warm temperatures are on the way, and if the golf course is calling your name there are a few things to keep in mind.

GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness golf director Jason Sudenga has four tips for getting ready this golf season.

  1. Assess your equipment. “If you need any new equipment, there’s a lot coming out and some of it is very popular,” he says. GreatLIFE pro shops are open and ready to help you shop for the latest and greatest.
  2. Check your golf grips to make sure they’re in good shape. “Most of the time people re-grip their clubs in the spring,” Jason says. “Fitting is a big part of selling equipment now, so making sure your clubs fit right is a big thing.”
  3. Make sure you’re stretching. “It’s about training your whole body, not golf-specific training,” Jason adds. “So anything fitness-related: Stretching, working out, lifting weights, all of that will help your golf game.”
  4. Practice your virtual game. “If you haven’t had a chance to get outside, head over to Suburban Lanes and get on the simulators,” Jason suggests.

Golf simulators at Suburban Lanes.

Suburban Lanes, at 2621 S. Spring Ave., has two types of simulators treating golfers to play on some of the world’s most famous courses. One type of simulator features a 17-foot screen for true 3D golf and the other offers analytics designed for the golf enthusiasts who never miss a round.

GreatLIFE members get special rates on golf simulators at Suburban Lanes, so bring the whole family! Call 336-3800 to reserve a virtual (but real) tee time!
