Food, beverages, entertainment: What to expect at the 605 Made Night Market

Aug. 22, 2019

The 605 Made Night Market runs from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Cherapa Place, offering local shopping under the stars along with local beer, lots of food trucks, live music and entertainment.

The free event is sponsored by The First National Bank of Sioux Falls, Ace Hardware and the South Dakota Retailers Association, and organized by Knotty Gnome Variety & Salvage and SiouxFalls.Business.

Along with the chance to shop terrific locally made merchandise, you’ll enjoy live entertainment and plenty of local options to eat and drink.

The Food

Food vendors will bring a global touch to the market. If you’ve never tried raclette, bubble tea, Thai food or falafel before, now’s your chance.

From her tent-based stand, Sonja Hoffmann of RacletteCorner will melt a large wheel of raclette from Switzerland and serve the gooey cheese over potatoes, prosciutto, greens, cornichons, cocktail onions and bread on the side. She’ll also serve a sweet raclette sandwich with prosciutto, greens and pears, drizzled with honey on a ciabatta roll.

Bubble tea, which is popular in Asia, will be served by Tasteas. The drink includes chewy boba, which are tapioca pearls.

The food truck KK & Sons Thai & Laos Food has been drawing crowds since it opened last year. The menu will include banh mi sandwiches; pork jerky with sticky rice; stir-fry noodles with pork, egg and veggies; spring rolls; and egg rolls. For Middle Eastern flavors, the food truck Kabab King will serve dishes ranging from falafel to shawarma. Find Mexican food at Breaking Burrito and smoked meats and more at Backyard BBQ.

For snacking, shoppers will find cotton candy from the new Candy Cloud Factory, beef and pork jerky from Orange Creek Farms, baked goods from Heart of the City Bakery and Mary’s Kitchen & Gardens, honey straws from Quail Honey, and kettle corn, cotton candy and lemonade from Stone’s Famous Kettle Corn.

The Beverages

Ode to Food & Drink will be coordinating beverage sales, which will include three beers on tap by Fernson Brewing Co. and two by Remedy Brewing Co., both based in Sioux Falls, as well as two from Spearfish-based Crow Peak Brewing Co.

There also will be a signature 605 punch, wine and mixed drinks.

The Entertainment

The 605 Made Night Market kicks off with a traditional lion dance, which is done to bring good luck at Asian street markets.

From there, it’s a night of musical entertainment. Here’s the lineup:

4:15 to 5 p.m.: Sioux Falls Lion Dance Team
5 to 5:30 p.m.: Carl Limo
6 to 7 p.m.: Sons of Sans Arc
7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Beard

And you can take in all the entertainment inside the Ace Lounge, a new addition this year from Nyberg’s Ace Hardware, featuring lots of seating and yard games.
