Featured Parade home combines Scandinavian design with Lake Alvin setting

Sept. 15, 2022

Everything about this featured home on the Fall Parade of Homes is custom-made.

At 6,180 square feet, six bedrooms and six bathrooms, it sits in the Lakeview Estates development near Lake Alvin.

“This house is distinctive,” said builder Craig Wynia of Jeren Homes. “It’s got so many great features going on,  between the outdoor living space, the patios, the breathtaking view over the area, custom beam work, interior trim, custom handrails.”

You’ll find a full wet bar and golf simulator in the lower level, and a large pool outside.

It also reflects a growing trend builders such as Wynia are seeing — “more modern light fixtures … more smooth, straight lines,” he said. Lots of light colors, quartz counters and less decorative trim work are more common.

The house is one two of featured homes and about 50 total homes on the Fall Parade of Homes, which finishes its second week from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The semiannual event organized by the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire drew a strong crowd its opening weekend and has raised more than $6,500 so far through featured home tours for the Home Builders Care Association.

“Coming out of the pandemic, we’ve really never slowed down,” Wynia said. “We’ve been really busy; the homebuilding industry has been super strong even though prices increased.”

Despite rising costs, “the phone is still ringing,” he said. “We’ve got jobs lined up all the way into next year already … maybe not quite as crazy as it was late 2020, early 2021, but it’s still progressing greatly in the right direction.”
