While it’s no secret that summer is the bread-and-butter of Sioux Falls tourism, the fall and winter seasons are just as good in their own unique ways. Experience Sioux Falls has rolled out its fall and winter season campaign to encourage travel to the city during what is typically a less popular time frame for travel.

“Building off the momentum of our ‘Experience It Differently’ messaging throughout our peak travel season campaign, we’re using this same messaging in the fall and winter campaign, which illustrates that with the seasonal changes, visitors can experience Sioux Falls differently, time and time again,” said Matt Barthel, communications manager for Experience Sioux Falls.

In the span of just a few months, you can go from hiking under a canopy of trees to snowshoeing through a snow globe scene at that same location or go from playing disc golf at Tuthill Park to ice skating there with a loved one. There’s always a different experience waiting for you.

ESF is using several avenues for this campaign such as digital static ads, video ads and even mailing out a postcard to people in the surrounding states who have engaged with the organization in the past year.

“We have found that targeting highly engaged people in our audience with a dynamic printed mail piece has been a very successful method for us the last few years,” Barthel said. “These people are much more likely to convert on our goal.”

Campaign tactics include utilizing specific messaging and content geared toward several personas that ESF has outlined through historical data to drive visitors to ExperienceSiouxFalls.com for trip inspiration, with booking a trip being the end goal. ESF’s primary markets are the main audience for this campaign, which include up to 50 miles outside of Sioux Falls, Minneapolis, Fargo, Omaha and Rapid City.

Sure, the weather may be chilly during these upcoming months, but there’s always plenty of fun activities to do in Sioux Falls.
