Fall Parade of Homes showcases custom work, amenity-filled homes across Sioux Falls area

Sept. 5, 2024

This paid event listing is sponsored by the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire Inc.

Custom kitchens, an indoor sport court, a dedicated workout room and a sunken theater — you’ll see them all and more in the upcoming Fall Parade of Homes.

The event, organized by the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire Inc., will be Sept. 14-15 and Sept. 21-22 from 1 to 5 p.m. each day.

Featuring nearly 50 homes from 30 builders, “this year’s event offers more than just an open house experience — it’s a celebration of homebuilding innovation, craftsmanship and community, with an opportunity to be inspired,” said Teddi Mueller, executive vice president of HBASE.

In a historic first, both featured homes are from the same builder: Jeren Homes.

“This unique occurrence speaks volumes about the builder’s reputation for quality and innovation,” Mueller said. “While nearly all the homes in the Parade are free to tour, these two feature homes have a $5 admission fee, with proceeds supporting the Home Builders Care Foundation, which plays a crucial role in supporting the community and the building industry.”

The first featured home, a five-bedroom house at 5600 E. Markham Circle is in northeast Sioux Falls. Visitors will see a custom kitchen and wet bar, custom office with 12-foot ceilings and large primary suite, plus a built-in workout room and indoor sport court with 20-foot ceilings.

“It’s designed around entertainment and an active family,” project manager Craig Wynia said. “The whole house is open with tall ceilings, and it’s very welcoming, with a lot of lighter colors and a more modern feel to it.”

The second featured home at 46621 Jacks Circle is a five-bedroom home in Tea. It features a custom kitchen with an oversized island and large walk-in pantry, plus a screened-in covered porch and large deck. There’s also a custom wet bar and sunken theater area.

“This one has more earth and wood-tone colors, and it’s just got a lot of unique features in it,” Wynia said. “Every bathroom has tile accents. We’ve got vaulted ceilings throughout the house and a lot of custom work. It’s just got a whole different feel.”

These featured homes by Jeren Homes “showcase the range and creativity possible in modern home design, making them must-sees during this year’s Parade of Homes,” Mueller said. “Whether you’re drawn to the active, entertainment-focused design of the Markham Circle home or the cozy, refined elegance of the Jacks Circle home, there’s something for everyone to admire.”

Wynia encourages Parade guests to download the Sioux Empire HBA Guide app and get ready to tour nearly 50 homes throughout the Sioux Falls area. There also are some virtual tours available.

“Pre-plan your route so you don’t spend a lot of time driving back and forth to get to houses, and you can maximize your time in the houses,” he suggested. “We definitely encourage you to ask questions. That’s what builders enjoy about this event. You’re going to see a lot of the trends that have been popular the last few years throughout these homes.”

Demand for housing “is still in my mind at an all-time high,” Wynia added. “And lot availability is really good right now.

“A lot of developers have been really active, so we are seeing expansion from the edge of Sioux Falls to communities like Tea, Lennox, Hartford, Brandon, Harrisburg. They’re all growing substantially because people are moving outward, and a small commute into town isn’t a big issue anymore.”

So mark your calendars, grab your app, and prepare to be inspired by the Parade of Homes, Mueller said.

“This event is more than a house tour; it’s an opportunity to see the future of home design, connect with builders and experience the best of what the Sioux Empire has to offer. Don’t miss your chance to explore these incredible homes and support a great cause in the process.”
