Escape 605 moving out of mall, adding new rooms at other location

Escape 605’s temporary lease at The Empire Mall has ended, prompting the business to expand instead at its Westport Avenue location.

The owners are focusing on providing multiple forms of entertainment under one roof, including ax-throwing lanes and a bar serving beer and wine.

“When our temporary mall lease was going to be coming to an end, we saw this as the perfect opportunity to do something we have always wanted by expanding our original Westport location and adding some brand-new themed rooms and a much larger bar and seating area to create an entertainment facility similar to downtown” said co-owner Dustin Hoffman.

“We loved our space at the mall and it was a very difficult decision, but in the end, the opportunity to create our dream of an additional one-stop entertainment shop was too good to pass up.”

The last day for bookings at the mall is July 15. Customers can use the promo code Mall50 for half off an escape room experience at the mall for the next few days. The space is being converted to Dry Goods, a women’s apparel chain.

New escape room themes at 3718 S. Westport Ave. this summer and fall will include Lockbuster, a throwback to a 1990s video rental store, a Prohibition room, an Alice in Wonderland themed room, a Superhero/Marvel themed room, and a sequel to the old favorite Aunt Edna’s but with a Clue-based twist.

“Big surprises are ahead for Escape 605 with more expanded growth on the horizon,” Hoffman said.

The owners also have created a space with multiple entertainment options at their downtown location, 119 W. 10th St., which focuses on ax-throwing but also includes a social club with recreational games.
