Entrepreneur brings jewelry store to downtown Dell Rapids

March 26, 2024

A new jewelry store has opened in downtown Dell Rapids.

The Jewelry Box is owned by Donna Kuper and located at 416 E. Fourth St., the same storefront where she used to have a gift shop and the same building where she also operates Kuper Complete Accounting.

Kuper, who has lived in Dell Rapids for five years, also does full-time accounting work for the Denny Sanford Premier Center in addition to tax preparation through her business. Additionally, she’s a part-time solo pastor at a church in Aurora, near Brookings.

The jewelry business is a storefront for her role as a consultant for the jewelry brand Paparazzi, which she has represented for eight years.

“I was doing a bunch of vendor shows, and the setup and tear down over that amount of years was starting to wear on my back, and I didn’t want to give up the jewelry,” she said. “Paparazzi allows consultants to open a brick-and-mortar store … and this will probably be something that’s a lot better for me.”

The brand has maintained its consistent $5 pricing, including for necklaces with matching earrings, bracelets and rings.

“So it’s super affordable, and they come out with new designs each and every day, Monday through Friday,” Kuper said. “It’s just bizarre how awesome it is. If you’re looking for any type of jewelry, we can normally find it, or we already have it, so it’s really cool to see the designs they come out with it.”

Since opening the store in February, “it’s been good,” she said. “It’s like they’re discovering it as they come in to get taxes done, which is super fun.”

Hours for The Jewelry Box are 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
