There’s a lot of dirt moving along an east-side commercial corridor, as the area is being readied for potential new development.

Assam Cos. is grading about seven acres along Arrowhead Parkway west of Foss Avenue, “so we can be ready to go, whether it’s a grocery store or a number of (retail) centers or a larger single tenant,” vice president Seth Assam said. “We’re trying to get things going over there. We own a number of parcels.”

Business activity in the area has been “very good,” with Chipotle Mexican Grill and Fazoli’s opening in the area, he said.

“We’ve had a lot of interest from other nationals, QSRs (quick-service restaurants) specifically and a number of financial institutions throughout the Midwest.”

The company also has a smaller lot just east of O’Reilly Auto Parts on Arrowhead Parkway and “we’ve had a number of interested parties on that one,” Assam said.
